Back in the 80's there was a very similar a waterpark here in WV called Rock Lake Swimming pool. It was a manmade lake about the size of a 3rd of football field. It had a bunch of fun features like swinging ropes and water slides, but some of them were crazy. For example, you could jump off a cliff to a trampoline about 10 feet down. It was angled so that it launched you into the water. There was also a zip line swing, and a rope that swung out half the distance of the pool. As people started getting hurt, the more dangerous attractions were removed, until it was little more than a dirty lake with trampolines in the middle. Eventually, it closed down, the lake was drained, and low-income apartments were erected where the lake used to be. The cinderblock walls that contained the lake are still there, as well as the trench where the waterfall spilled into the lake. They stand as a cool reminder of a time when sanity was in short supply, but fun wasn't.
