Come with me as I explore my hometown and take in what it is really like in 2024, Peterborough. Voted constantly as one of the worst places to live in the UK, and recently one of the most depressing. I venture around to show what the camera sees with my own eyes, a couple of interviews and seeing what the state of disrepair a 1865 WW1 & WW2 medical hospital for the veterans and how its been shut down.
More to come as I venture around and show what I can see, bringing what you might not see or hear but this is Britain, broken in 2024.
If you have any places you would like me to visits and guide me round your town or city, contact me via the instagram link below. Comment your suggestions and I will do my best to capture areas.

Hey, I speak from my heart, my family go back here 150 years, my great grandfather was an architect for the amazing lido. I’m sad to see it go backwards, I love the posh. Remember going to watch Jimmy Quinn, Martin Curruthers, Andy Clarke. I’ll do more about Peterborough, positive & negative. Because it’s the best way to be, I just hope that people see & that the camera doesn’t lie.

I was born here and yes it was lovely 30years ago we had clean streets people were not homeless and we had many shops clubs pubs and more in the late 90 there was a drug epidemic and then the influx of migration due to Peterborough been on the fens having a lot of factory and land work it’s changed dramatically the hospital opened 13 years ago and they said there was not enough beds then but the ratio of new communities popping up it’s horrendous trying to get even on the hospital grounds it’s jam packed and no spaces to park at all if you need to go. We had two hospitals one by the railway over the blue bridge just past there and one in the same place this new one was built but it’s crazy. There’s no big chain shopping no more John Lewis pulled out of the shopping Center and many shops have gone through that. I did not understand why they thought it was a fantastic idea for a university as there no night life not shopping experience and you have walked around Peterborough so would you come and spend 10k a year to study here. There are still some nice things like the cathedral there ferry meadows nice for a walk out in open space lakes etc but I thing they need new council members and MP as what we have are no helping anyone or the city itself.

I was born in PDH on Thorpe Road in the 80’s. Agree with what you say, I walk around & drive around here and see a decline, the demise of this city. It’s beyond recovery in my opinion. It’s a shame. Queensgate is a graveyard. The MP’s? They ain’t interested in improvements, only to their salary that’s all.

It was a good idea at the first time when University was suggested but they got it right they would need a prison instead, looks like theyll need another one as there are to many people who dont care about our laws and land. Council tax buys nothing for the people and just lines the pockets of the corrupt. Bring back rates for actual utility services only.

I grew up in South Bretton, back then everybody had pride in the area. I had a stint in Dogsthorpe as well. I moved away as a teen but when back to Bretton on the way out and back home to Cheshire and Bretton was a literal overgrown dump. I remembered when it started going downhill but moved before it actually did. I could never return to live.

Peterborough used to have an optimistic vibe. As a kid, crowing up in Bretton and Werrington, no one ever explained the concept to us, but we intuitively understood that this was modern, new and different. Those shiny new estates were the consequence of some really smart urban planning that prioritized social spaces - with small green areas, over the tower blocks that dominated the skylines of other cities. But looking at this depressing video - it’s clear my home city lost its leadership. Whoever the f**k the last few MP’s were/are should be ashamed of themselves. Reading the comments, it’s clear that a lot of people blame the rise in immigration, which I completely understand. But from where I’m standing, I’m seeing the symptoms of a creeping disparity between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’. Knocking down the Peterborough market to create a load of expensive apartments in the middle of a cultural desert says it all. That market was one of the few places you could shop but also get to know your fellow ‘Peterborian’, through friendly banter and bit of market haggling. Whoever is on Peterborough city council is making a packet at the expense of Peterborough citizens. Don’t blame the people that live in Peterborough. Blame the ones that claim to run it. They need to be held accountable. That’s the only way to turn this sad ‘Peterborough Effect’ around.

---please read--- Someone who comes from a ethnic background and born and bred in Peterborough It is heartbreaking to see Peterborough in this state. I would like to make brief points. There are different groups that work tirelessly to improve the area that hasn't been mentioned. The council and police have been the biggest let down. The community has complained time and time again but nothing has come of it. Rental market is the biggest culprit for flytipping unfortunately. (I've seen flytipping in nice places of Cambridge) The club scene in general has changed all over the UK especially after covid. I recently challenged planning for a gambling place on Lincoln rd unfortunately it was approved by council. I'm happy to give my view on video if you ever want.

Could start a pub crawl at the top of Lincoln Road, and if you paced yourself, hit every pub on the way into town, and meet or make a friend in every pub and club and not have a bit if trouble regardless of colour or creed....even the Muslims drank in the pubs back then...especiallythe Windmill pub....then they opened the borders....try that walk now at night....prime example of letting in the 3rd world and becoming the 3rd world

Love people that go on about how great their city was but do absolutely Fuck all to improve it. Hire a van, get some fucking gloves on and clean it up if it means so much to you, either that or put some pressure on the council. Highlighting the worst of the city to the wider world doesn’t help, that just encourages more fly tipping, more anti-social behaviour and more bigotry. 99% of the population of Peterborough are good honest people, no matter where they came from, its the system that is fucked up, not the people. @@4KWalkz who the fuck is going to invest in the city when all that is shown is the bad side. Peterborough was built on immigration and diversity, most of the city was built by Irish and Italian families and generations later their families are still here, providing jobs for “local people” then The Eastern Europeans came to do the work that “local people” couldn’t be bothered to do, you won’t find many “local people” working on the fens in all weathers providing the food on your table. As I said in my first comment, the system is fucked, we all know that but these shockbait videos don’t help. The only way the system can be fixed is if the people come together, take back that pride, promote their city and let the authorities know enough is enough 😔

Lived on Angus Court in Peterborough in 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971. The entire town/area we lived in was beautiful. The markets at the end of the road, the fish and chip shop, the post master's shop. We kids would walk to the swimming pool in downtown. So many great memories. I see they took the Witche's Hat out of the park. No one ever got hurt on it, but it was sue fun to ride on. Saw the Sound of Music in downtown ... don't see the theatre there anymore. So sad to see it look this way. Same way in America ... lots of homeless and illegals living in the streets, using drugs, trashing the place. So sad.

@4KWalkz yeah I know what you mean. I work around the country and often stay in Peterborough (to work in the PE Postcode in Cambridgeshire and parts of soutb west Lincs). They often put us in two of the city's premier inns. One overlooking a really nice golf course. And another not so far from the now infamous Lincoln Road. Believe me, I know Peterborough used to be a lovely place to live (and still is in the outlaying areas). And it pains me to say it, but give it another 20 years at current immigration rates (which surely can only get worse with most of the world's 8 billion people wanting to immigrate to the west) and that too will all be gone. The whole country (and western, northern and southern Europe) is doomed. Swamped by a tsunami of unneeded mass immigration of mostly huge families that all need to be billeted, fed and clothed! 🤔🧐

However it is a dreadful mess now, brasses turning tricks behind park cars, drug paraphernalia littering the streets, a drug epidemic, people living in overcrowded converted flats from what were originally lovely large houses. Nobody speaks English there either, so many from Eastern europe.

I moved to Peterborough from London in 76 and it was a new town for the London over spill places like bretton and ravensthorp ,I'm now 62 and disgusted how its changed since Tony Blair opened the flood gates and feel totally unsafe in this era of dystopia. Millfield, Gladstone street, Cromwell rd areas are no go zones with Asian and eastern European migrants selling crack and heroin I see it from my window on a daily basis. Sad times indeed.

Peterborough is alright. If you think it's that bad you are some next level snowflake. If you really want a measure of decline go to Kingston on Thames which used to be the richest borough per head in greater London. Or go to Boston in Lincolnshire.

I'm from borough, the 🐘 in the room...IMMIGRATION, too much of it, the areas you are showing aren't exactly native demographics are they? South of the river is a lot tidier. And a lot more native...❤
