This is my favourite entry for the contest for sure. Although it doesn't do well to my entry as I also did a Deluge live jam with similar "topic" ... I don't mind, as this track is fucking awesome

@@KaelAlden i figured it will take literally years to master. But anything worth it takes time. I've heard it's not as bad as the octatrack lol

Killed it dude. Nice track. And great idea on using a shotgun mic to give some space away from the station.

I freaking love this song! Love the mix and love the vocal chops and decisions you made
@KaelAlden3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Luke! Yeah I totally hear you with the gain staging. I struggle with that on the deluge sometimes too. Honestly if I get to clipping too much I usually let that be my indicator that I've gone too far with the arrangement overall. On a DAW I tend to add and add elements, not really knowing when to stop sometimes. I guess when I'm working on the deluge I let the limitations be a creative tool to just keep it simple.
@MonitusMusic3 жыл бұрын
I have come through this many times and found that the solution was to always set track levels at around 10 out of 50. Then when you stack a lot of tracks it still sounds nice without clipping

For the second drum track at 11” , you have different colors pad on the track screen , but only a green line on the song page , how do you do that ? Normally , you should have different coloured squares on this line ….
@KaelAlden3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the song page colors correspond to whatever is at the top of a kit track. In this case I just happened to have a solid row of green hi-hats on 16th notes at the top, so it appears as a solid green track in song view.
@Dekalboy3 жыл бұрын
As I understand, you are grouping section by type of instrument and not by type of part of the song ?
@KaelAlden3 жыл бұрын
In this case sort of. It's a fairly simple arrangement so I didn't make much use of the section groups, except for the pink breakdown section.
