Great vid Ron & Devin , and excellent info as usual. And of course very much spot on , I live in NJ but i have family on both coasts of Florida , one of which an uncle who gave up on putting in and maintaining a golf green for the issues brought up in this vid (the amount of time / work in particular) . Ntm stories from / about neighbors down there who either have a green that wound up pretty terrible by not realizing everything needed to go into maintaining a quality green or abandoned the project due to the amount of work. A golf green is an insane amount of work and commitment ; the amount of which along with potential issues and costs excellently discussed in this vid.

Watched this Live Friday. I have no desire to have a green, I already work in the yard most days to maintain a .75 HOC. Shooting for .5 this year with the new to me Greensmaster.

Are you sure you don't want a green? You can do it! :-)

Does it matter if Hudson Star says that their reels don't have to cut paper?

If that's what they say.

Planning next season to cut my 419 at 3/4 inch. Will I have to worry about fungicide as said in the video?
@RonHenry2 жыл бұрын
I still apply fungicide twice per season. You won’t have to apply bi monthly like gold greens need.

Great info. I’ve come to realize most home greens are just shorter cut grass made to look like a green instead of an actual golf course green.
@RonHenry2 жыл бұрын
This is true Papa Mows Low. Creating and maintaining an actual green is a ton of work.

I should mention four acres of bentgrass at my course

Wow. That’s a lot to take care of Scott

@@RonHenry 31 acres of bentgrass fairways and 60 acres of rough with bluegrass. I wish I had a dime for every golfer who wanted our aerating plugs to build a green at their home. Love your videos

What about Prizm ultradwarf Zoysia? Would that work for green turf?
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
I can't say. I've never tried using that as a green.
@bssmith3333 Жыл бұрын
@@RonHenry from what I have seen, it's a fairly new version of Zoysia, and the only ultradwarf Zoysia I have ever heard of. Just trying to get some info from a non-biased source. Thanks for your reply.

.01 inch??? 😂 _Moss_ is thicker than that....

@@RonHenry Ah 😂 Tenth of an inch is still an insane height to mow a lawn, but I'm in fescue country and some of my mowing heights reach 4.5" in summer...

I get that a green is high maintenance, but it doesn't have to be at the level that this man in the gray shirt says. Why? Because the green isn't going to see the use and abuse of a green that is used every day for hours.
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
Sounds like a plan. Do you have a green in your lawn?
