It amazes me how many times things change hands until it reaches the final person. For instance, a reseller shops at garage, estate etc, sales..puts them in a booth, another reseller purchases them and finally the item is listed on Ebay, etc

The Mouth of Truth: somewhere in one of our family photo albums I have a photo of my wife looking a bit hesitant, as she puts her hand in the Mouth of Truth, back when we lived in Italy and routinely traveled up to Rome. It’s a large carved stone (marble, I think) piece, mounted on the wall and many, many visitors to the city give it a try.

Just a kind bit of info, never cross out a price and put a lower price this is how people can steal. They can also cross out prices and lower your price. Always make a new tag and make sure owners know you do that also. Not saying it happens a lot but it does. I sold in booths for 10 years and unfortunately people find ways. Switching tags also happens so make sure you have a good description on tag. Good luck!

Just started watching but couldn't resist writing this. I was downsizing so I got a nice size booth in a great place in a large antique mall as well as several showcases for glassware. I would never do this again. The only person who wins is the person who owns the business running the mall and the owner of the building of course. I had nice quality items which were very desirable with no junk. I put enough to well cover the price of the booth as well as in the showcases. Every month, for the most part, I was only selling enough to cover the rent with possibly a little over. This means I was giving away most everything!! There was just too much competition in the mall for people's money. Many people just browse through for entertainment purposes and aren't serious about purchasing anything. I even had people who stole the finials off of lamps they matched - something I would never have thought of happening but it did. In the showcases, you had to be very careful about labeling any glassware because the people who worked the mall had keys and the people who had other booths had friends who had keys so if you, by chance, labeled the prices exact without being perfect such as "how many pieces are in a set on each piece of glassware and the total price" somehow pieces would disappear out of sets. It was really disturbing. This was a high end mall in a high traffic area also. I look back on it as I was doing a favor to whoever was running the mall because I had desirable items which helped to make the mall look nice, several showcases, along with a wall of art and it helped to round out the mall. I was also good at display and visual so it also helped. If I had to do it over again, I would have an auction but even then you have to be careful because auctioneers are in "cohoots" with each other. The best way to sell something now is an "Estate Sale" and label it that way so it's not expected to be yard sale prices or maybe on line but that seems like a lot of work. Bottom line is I don't really know what to tell a person to do with what they have. Trust is a big thing whenever someone else is involved and the flea market/antique market is a very cut throat industry unfortunately. Don't mean to sound so negative but it's just the fact. I used to be a good buyer at sales and auctions and never complained about anything to anyone because I was buying for my home but now that I know what really goes on, I expect to be deceased when anything else leaves unless I take things one at a time to sell at my price privately. For the most part, I don't have a lot now so that is a good thing. One thing I would like to add to my comment is my items were purchased way back in the 60's through the late 90's so they were all hand picked and paid good money to have them where as now you can hit the thrift stores and find just about anything you desire for less. Today you might be able to do better by thrifting as thrift stores are everywhere!! I wish you luck but just be prepared for the future. Putting this on You Tube will help for sure.

I so enjoyed reading what you had to say about the pitfalls of selling. The only thing that I will sell is on Facebook marketplace even though people will still try to get you to make a deal which I don't mind because I factor that in to what I am asking unless what I am asking I will put the FIRM and I will keep it like that no matter what. I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that when you were trying your very best to help the customer as well as the place where you had your items and people were taking advantage of you that should not have happened in any way because if People's word and their actions are not honorable you don't want them to begin with. I'm going to try to dmu and actually speak with you about what you had to go through. If that does not work I will come back and write to you again.

In those booth situations - your best bet is to have stuff that NOBODY else has. If you have Pyrex bowls , and 14 other sellers have Pyrex bowls - why would they buy yours unless it much cheaper. And on and on . How many Josef Angels can one person have ? How many FENTON COMPOTE bowls are there ? Another issue with antique booths is MOST of the stuff is geared towards women. Have stuff that their husbands are interested in. @@peppiholliday4525

The best sales usually come right before the holidays and maybe January when people have a lot of down time. I noticed in the mall I was in, people would start to move out once they understood the good months versus the bad months. I think you might likely do well because you can make up for what you don't sell in your on line and marketplace sales. Either way, if you buy at the right price, which you are definitely doing, it's not like putting hundreds of dollars into one item and having it sit. Everything is about timing. I just came along at a time when there was basically only the Salvation Army in my area so thrift stores weren't a good option. Today everything would have been different. Plus now you can add cameras to watch everything in your booth which is a plus. I have gone back and watched many of your videos. I'm happy for you and your husband because you both have the same common interests and that is very important especially when handling merchandise. I hope the sales continue to do well. @@lavenderclothesline

Hi Karen, I think this is my first time commenting but I love your videos! You and Roger are so fun, entertaining and educational! Love seeing any kind of video you put out but I really enjoy when you pull orders. I'm jealous of your basement! I keep my eBay inventory in my basement but it's not as big as yours and I have a dirt floor, not a concrete one. Oh well. I've been selling on eBay since 2001. I wanted to mention that I have put videos in some of my eBay listings when I'm selling a musical plush item that dances and sings so the buyer can see what the item for sale does. Just wanted to mention that in case you are or will be selling any of those items. Happy Holidays and hi to Roger! I'll be watching you guys! Oh and I love how you met... I met my reseller hubby on Craigslist personals when they had them in 2015 and we married in 2017. Here's to love and reselling! Cindy
