I collect/buy and sell militaria the rising sun flag looked to good to be true l wouldn’t trust it to clean looking plus from the video it looked nylon but in person it may have looked different idk on that part and the fact he said WW1 also leads me to think it’s fake

It's possible it was a post war reproduction. In Japan and Germany after the war they created lots of reproductions of various war trophies to give to US soldiers as souvenirs. If it was a reproduction it was pretty convincing one as the smell was very close to original wwii Japanese flags that I've owned. But yeah those early post war repros are the hardest ones to authenticate. Even today many many collectors and expert dealers are fooled by them. Me included!
