I Wanted to Understand MiniTrucking, so I made one in BeamNG

The Scintilla has an axle lift feature, it can be controlled from the interior buttons. You could have based your code on that. But what you ended up making is pretty much the same setup in the end lol

@@fillman86 yeah when you lock a diff it makes both wheels spin on the differential at the same time, where an open diff the wheels spin at different times for when your turning nornmally. a locked diff is better for drifting and donuts. sick video tho man!

@@fillman86 in the options/configurations menu when you’re changing parts, you can change the rear bumper to a different one called roll pan which is much better for a mini truck

@@fillman86 it’s basically just a smoothed bumper that’s flush with the sides of the bed. Gets rid of the bumper and replaces it with a smooth piece of metal.

@@fillman86 yeah. It looks clean. If you really want to go all out, shave the door handles and tail lights and add some graphics! Oh, and don't forget a sunroof! Shaved means removed. So basically, you cut out the tail lights, fill in the gap with sheet metal, so that it looks flush, as if the body just curves, without the tail lights, and relocate the tail lights elsewhere. Google it for images lol. Same thing with door handles. You remove them, so the door is smooth, and have a button on a keyfob to open the doors. Oh, and I almost forgot, suicide doors!!!! Graphics mean a cool paint job with designs and patters. Flames on the side of the truck counts. If you want to go old school, add a wink mirror to the interior. I can go on and on and on, but I'm definitely not the one to ask. There are plenty of great youtube channels and people on facebook that know 100x what I do about these awesome trucks. Btw, I'm the kid who pinged you in Mighty's server in #media (with the orange fuzz ball pfp) If you some extra irl photos (that I took, without the kei truck interference) shoot me a dm ;)

A good mod to look at if you're still struggling with this and want to revisit, is the slammed mod pack for this. the guy made a c notched frame, slammed body, relocated gas tank, etc all with working bags. def a top mod for me. cant wait for yours to be out

You should definitely c notch the back of the frame which would allow the rear end to go lower than the frame. Also should make a way to have link bars like a 4 link thats triangulated so the rear end will be solid but other than that its definitely cool that you were able to make a mini truck

Hey! Minitrucker here, look at stuff at Southeastern Minitruckin Nationals… there are still TONS out there… they also use link type suspension with short links. I unfortunately have no modding skills but plenty of history knowledge!

22:58 I was just about to mention this! Google "step notch"! That's the mini trucker's solution to fixing that problem. Also, you have to modify the bed in order to allow room for the step notches. A lot of work, but super worth it :D

A c notch is when the top part of the frame is still in tact: __________________________________________ ╭-----------------╮ / \ ----------------------- ---------------- A step notch is this: _______________ / ________ \ / / \ \ __________ / / \ \____________ / \ ____________/ \________________ Same function though. They do not put the bags into the bottom of the step notch. That'd be really stupid. They make a cross member from the top of the two step notches, and mount the bags on that, or they mount the bags on one the the links. I'm not sure about hydraulics, because I'm not educated enough on them to answer confidently.

I've been looking for a mod that makes heavy-duty dually towing trucks able to lower, because sometimes the gooseneck trailer spawns in just shorter than the super heavy duty springs make the end of the truck stand. I'm using the BeamLR mod so adjusting the trailer isn't allowed for some reason, I'm also using the any-level truck mod, but the shock absorbers are non-existent so the truck bounces all over the place when it's raised over a certain level. It would be cool to see a tow setup that lowers and raises to correct levels, and can still have soft, but still usable shock absorbers for the bumps. I have no coding experience, but it would be cool to see a repository mod that I've scoured the internet for! Might be a little easier since the idea is made to be strong and adjustable, not short and scraping..?

I absolutely love the pro touring autocross trucks you can see over here in the US. I plan on doing a 4 link rear axle setup on coilovers with a gen 3 coyote motor out of a mustang and either a 10r80 automatic or a tremec t56 6 speed manual and I'm trying to decide on whether or not to do the 99-03 ford lightning front bumper and grills because I already plan on doing a side exit exhaust like the lightning and I plan on doing the early ford lightning wheels but in 20in replicas because they are cheaper than a legit set and they are proven to be just as strong

"Locking diff" isn't like a LSD. It's a manually locking diff, that's why you couldn't do a donut, the diff was still open.

As a software engineer, seeing you struggle to read Lua reminded me of my own struggles of reading code before I learned how too. FWIW, "M" is the variable name and the "." is an operator which is followed by an argument, like a function or a parameter, i.e. isBeamngWhatever. Lua is a very beginner friendly language to learn, I'd really like to see you attempt airbags again at some point. The Procyon mod has airbag suspension which should help make things easier for you, should you choose to revisit the subject. p.s. I found your channel the other day and have been binge watching your content, great stuff. 👍

I have an Idea for your DTM series. You could replicate the L3272 in Germany (my local hillclimb road). From the 60s until 2012, it held the Bergprüfung Presberg. It was a truly amazing event where my whole village would become the paddock. There were cars from Lufthansa‘s BMW Isetta up to the Volvo 850 BTCC. In 2012, the event was shut down due to safety concerns, but the road still exists and is amazing to drive. I think it could really fit for one of your Automation Challenges!

Mini trucking never died, never went away. Fennigans c10 is not a mini truck. It’s a full sized truck. Mini trucks are small trucks like Nissan hardbody’s, Chevy c10s, Toyota tacomas, etc.

should of notched the frame (cut the rear frame just above the axle small section out to allow the rear to drop more)or otherwise known as a C-notch. quick google search of img would explain better then i if your curious. prob why the bed was kinking also. and as to "getting it" well they just look sexy as hell laid out on the ground is all. kinda like a chick laying on a towel sun bathing at the beach or something like that, dose anyone really need any other reason ? i don't anyways i have allot of hr into getting mine to lay there just right. way more into the turbo V8 swap but still quite a bit none the less.

@@fillman86 because here on the west coast anyways not sure how east do it, not from there. but us males we drive Trucks in these here parts partner the women folk will they drove the family car.(not really sure why that came out with a cowboy accent prob shows my age🤷‍♂ oh well anyways) i guess there where a couple of guys who drove cars but i don't think any where excited about it. so most of us guys we either had jobs and bought (couldn't afford anything really cool to begin with at 16 or 17 or some parents helped here sons what was affordable Japanese or domestic trucks but always of the mini verity or a small pickup if you prefer! oh and props to by the way for sticking it out and tho not perfect a valiant effort and hey not to bad either a good base for me to tinker with. i have two other started project trucks i have thousands of dollars into and i still just gave up on. so for now anyways there stored up on the mezzanine tell i get time. but awesome you didn't man ill have to see if its possible to break all the trucks in the Gravil D series menu any more then they already are witch is pretty FU*()*'ed up already in my beam&. some nightmare mod reeking havoc on all of them currently cant seem to figure out. but that's half the fun right? cheers

Is there a reason that you used leaf spring in the rear? Wouldn’t it be easier if you made it Double Wishbone and changed the dampers to hydraulics? (I’m not an expert or anything, I just think dampers and hydraulics look similar, and therefore might be used interchangeably. Also, I’m kinda an idiot LOL)

The only trucks really considered mini trucks are nissan hardbody's, toyota pickups from the 90's back, chevy s10, and ford rangers, full size pickups dont count at all even when lowered.

So…I don’t really know how coding or anything works but I found this video quite interesting. I’m not sure if it is doable but if you could make yourself a triangulated 4 link in game that is generally how air ride is setup on these trucks. I could see the bus or grand Marshall air suspension working. Parallel 4libk would work too but would require a panhard bar

I wouldn't consider that size truck to be a 'mini truck'. Trucks like the; Mitsubishi Mighty Max, Toyota Pickup/Tacoma, Ford Ranger/Courier, Mazda B2000 series/REPU, Datsun 620/720/Nissan Hardbody, Chevy S10/Sonoma, and the Chevy Luv/Isuzu D-Max/Faster are what I would consider mini trucks. In my opinion you should of downloaded one of these trucks(which there are mods for) to truly represent the culture of 'mini trucks'. Nonetheless, I appreciate your interest in the culture.

You could have used the granmarshal or the blue buck they have hydraulics and the gran Marshall has the same wheel base as a d series and you can lower the ride height of the hydraulics so you can scrape the ground and the way you did it you should have used a 4 link rear so your not messing with leave springs you can just replace the coils with hydraulics

90% of the time it's a syntax error (spelling, or punctuation), the other 10% it's beamng being beamng. Consider restarting your pc

You should of used coil spring rear suspension would of been better than leaf spring. I did this myself using the 4 link coil spring rear suspension and it works pretty good.

Oh wait nvm I just re looked at it I actually robbed the coil spring rear suspension off what looks like the moon hawk apparently. I used modified moonhawk coil spring solid rear axle for the rear hydraulic suspension on my truck.
