This was Lotfi and Waheb Double Kanon, it's a band of two rappers this is why it's called "double Canon". They made three albums; Kamikaz, Cannibal and condamné, all of them where best sellers in Maghreb countries back then with a huge success and meanwhile Lotfi debuted his solo career with lacamorra Volume 1. In 1996 North Africans discovered for the 1st time rap with their own language through them it was revolutionary. They are the pioneers of Algerian rap with MBS who signed with Universal France and made a great album too. The rest is history.

Nobody cared about rap in Algeria at that time. Even Lotfi DK agrees with you. He said the same thing as you in 1998, and the state arrested him in 1996 and prevented him from releasing his first album, “Perpete,” and considered him a corrupt person and a political opponent. But he didn't care much about fame. His only concern was to criticize the state, and he even rejected an offer from Virgin Records because its president is jewish Lotfi did not have anything ( no money , no studio , no laptop , nothing exepct his Legendary words ) imagine he was writing songs on paper 😉
