Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbithole! Glad to have you aboard. The bass singer is Geoff Castellucci; the beatboxer (who made all the sounds that weren't voices or foot stomping, including the creak of the door) is Layne Stein; the rock god who teleported them out to the shore is Eli Jacobson; the rapper, as you surmised, is J.None, a former member who often rejoins them when he's on leave from the Navy; and the berserker tenor is Cesar De La Rosa. They have a huge catalogue in their channel and all of it is great, but I recommend in particular Nothing Else Matters, Hoist the Colours, In The Air Tonight, We Don't Talk About Bruno, and Creep. Geoff also has a channel of his own where he layers his vocals across his five-octive range to produce stunning, often elaborately costumed solo works; I See Fire, Ghost Riders in the Sky, The Sound of Silence and Sixteen Tons are some of my favorites. Liked, subscribed and hoping to see you enjoy more of their awesomeness!

Voiceplay, known as "The Theater Kids of A Cappella" do a wide variety of music from Disney tunes, to rock, show tunes, pop music, Halloween, and more. I think you will quickly fall in love with these guys like I did. I could make a long list of my favorites, but I am too lazy tonight. I will just say they are a treasure to explore and I challenge you to find one bad song in the bunch.

Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit-hole! It's a deep one, but the journey is going to be amazing! I'm sure others have already given you all kinds of facts and history for the group, so I'll just say that this is the 2nd Viking inspired song that VoicePlay has done recently - the first was My Mother Told Me, with a slightly different cast - but it's still got Geoff Castellucci making war-horn sounds, and Layne Stein (beatboxer) making noises you wouldn't think humanly possible. Geoff is using a specific technique in this video to "darken" his incredible bass tones - I invite you to watch his cover of I See Fire, where you'll hear him use both this technique and then his more "normal" bass voice right afterwards (at least in the song). You'll also be able to hear just how high his range extends, as he also sings in both baritone and tenor ranges in that song! For VoicePlay recommendations: just about anything you find in their catalog will be great, but some favorites of mine are The Dragonborn Comes (Skyrim), We Don't Talk About Bruno (Encanto), The Little Mermaid medley, Moana medley, Drunken Sailor (their newest), and Noting Else Matters (Metallica).

Hi! Welcome to Voiceplay!! I can tell you felt what I feel when I watch them. They do “epic” very well and people call them the theater kids of acapella. Most of their videos are like a short film with costumes. They are incredibly creative and musically gifted. If you love bass you will definitely love Geoff! It’s hard to make a recommendation from them because everything they do is fantastic! It just depends on what you like because they have done it all. Disney, Broadway, rock, pop… Just pick whatever you think you’ll like and you will love it! Their members have changed a bit over the years. J None is a former member who joined the Navy to sing but they bring him back as a guest. In the meantime they are technically a member short so they feature different artists and I love that as it keeps things extra exciting and fresh. You will get to know these guys and will love what they have to offer ❤

Geoff has his own channel where he does deep base covers (and, on occasion, shows off his full five octave range). He usually "clones" himself so you get three, four, or even five of him. Try "I See Fire". I understand that most of voiceplay have five octave ranges, but everybody only tend to notice that base. A very under-rated group, who deserve more recognition.

But I first found them because of their Halloween videos (!) and, yay, that time is coming up! Maybe see VoicePlay's "Boy Bands in 5 Minutes"; they dance! So cute! If you live for BASS, Geoff Castelucci does some solo work where he sings ALL the parts. Riders In The Sky and 16 Tons are MIND Blowing. Great production work, but also seeing his huge vocal range is amazing. Dragon Born is VP in full costume and Geoff starts with a spectacular bass intro.

Welcome to VoicePlay #TheatreKidsOfACapella. They do all of this themselves most of the time. Arranging, filming, editing, costumes, sets and props. This is their second Viking video. The first is My Mother Told Me. and J. None was a group member before joining the Navy in 2021. The bass Geoff Castellucci has his own channel and does low bass covers.

Geoff, the Bass, has a 5 octave range. He has his own channel where he shows his range off. If you like Johnny Cash, Geoff has done Folsom Prison Blues. Or, you might try Ain't No Sunshine, the cover of Bill Withers song. His solo work is accompanied with some instruments. ( Yeah, solo, right. He does 4-5 part harmony with himself!)

Boy, did you pick a good place to start with Voiceplay! There are no weak links in Voiceplay, and they always pick featured guests that blend really well with them. They handle nearly all aspects of their videos, and they are incredibly creative both musically and visually. You can't go wrong with any of their videos, but this year's videos in particular have been amazing! Your favorite bass Tim Foust actually gave Geoff many of the exorcises that he use to make the deep sound that he makes. He credits Tim as his not hero so much as great example of what a bass should be. They are still friends today and collaborate on many songs. These a capella groups ( Home Free and Voiceplay) met on a show called The Sing Off where the competed against each other. They all still get along with each other and a lot of the other groups they competed against. Both groups are amazing at what they do and they both can do many different styles of music. Enjoy your times with this new group.

From something epic like this and their pirate stuff to Disney songs like "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and the "Little Mermaid Medley" to rock/metal songs like Metallicas "Nothing Else Matters" and the White Stripes "7 Nation Army." And Geoff doesn't just have the deep notes! He can go up pretty high too. They did a mini cover of Jack Blacks "Peaches" where Geoff goes crazy. It's so freaking cute and funny. Welcome to the wonderful playground of Voice Play! Don't feel too flustered over the membership of the group - they've been around for 20 years-ish. The three constants are Geoff (bass), Layne (beatbox ) & Eli (our rockgod tenor). Cesar is the youngest permanent member (tenor). This video featured J None who was formerly a full member of the group, until he jained the Navy. Whenever he gets a chance to Collab with the boys, it is a beautiful thing. They are a close group - with song arrangements usually done by Geoff & Layne (note though that Eli arranged their version of Creep). Other former full members include, Earl (high tenor), Tony (baritone), Scott (baritone - we see him in Halo). A great way to get familiar with most of their featured artists, is to watch Just Sing (use subtitles, there are often Easter eggs in there.) ❤ ❤ with Pentatonix and Home Free, they make up the Trifecta of acapella. Three amazing acapella groups, yet all very different stylistically. ❤

So happy to find a new reactor to VP! This is the 1st time I've seen your channel. I am gonna subscribe in hopes of seeing more VP & other top A Capella groups, such as Home Free & Pentatonix!!! My VP suggestions for you, to kind of give you an idea of the very different kinds of things they do (They are very versatile, & are the more theatrical of the other 2 groups I mentioned.) are: Boy Bands in 5 minutes, Mr. Blue Sky, Nothing Else Matters, Friends on the Other Side, My Mother Told Me, If I were a Rich Man/Girl (ft. Ashley Diane), Dream On, Sh Boom, Hide and Seek , Hoist the Colors, Queen in 5 Minutes, In My Room & The Little Mermaid Medley. VP has been around for many years, & those are just a tiny fraction of the songs they've done. VP has had many line-up changes, so you will see different faces in different videos. J. None (Jessie Nunn III) was/is a full member of VP & is currently in the middle of a 5 year stint in the US Navy. He plans to return to VP after that. (and he is my favorite!💜) Good luck with your channel! As long as VP, Home Free or Pentatonix (Ptx) is on here, I will be here too! 💜

Great reaction Ginger. J None is a former member that left in 2021 to sing with the US Navy. He recently got promoted to Musician1 and transferred from Washington State to Washington DC to sing with the Sea Chapters Chorus. He returns when he gets leave or has time to sing with Voiceplay. Everyone including Voiceplay hope he rejoins when he gets out in 3 years. Voiceplay is only4 members at the present time so they collaborate with various artists for the 5th. Outside left to right.... Layne Stein- beatboxer, baritone, arrangements. Cesar De La Rosa- baritone, tenor. J None- guest, baritone. Eli (like jelly) Jacobson- tenor, rock tenor, lighting. Geoff Castelucci- bass, arrangements. Voiceplay are independent so they do everything themselves. Except camera, more detailed makeup and audio mixing. They are known as both "The Theater Kids of Acapella" and "The Kings of Halloween" because of their love of dressing up and performing. Which makes sense considering they are in Orlando Florida and they all have performed at Universal Studio and/or Disney World. All of their videos are amazing so you can't go wrong with any you choose to react to. Geoff has his own channel as well where he sings with instruments. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own name and personality..... Jeff, Jeoph, Goff and Daryl. Started last year as a joke on how people misspell and mispronounce his name in.... Way Down (Jeff, Jeoph and Goff) and then in Ghost Riders In The Sky Daryl got his name. Yeah. The these guys are sweet goofballs. Their last videos. Voiceplay.... Drunken Sailor. Tons of fun. Geoff.... Folsom Prison Blues. Johnny Cash would be proud. Definitely watch their videos all the way to the end as they usually add little surprises after a brief pause. And Geoff gives a short speech and shout out to his highest tier patreons. Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole🐰

For a little background on the group, Voiceplay is based out of Orlando and has been around since the late 90s when the guys were in choir together. They were called 4:2:Five before changing their name to Voiceplay. Many of them have performed at Disney and Universal Studios, which could explain how good they are with their costumes and backgrounds. They participated in the Sing Off! the same season as Home Free, which I think was season 4. They are good friends with Home Free and have a fun collab video with them on the VP channel to Survivor by Destiny's Child with a fun twist. I won't ruin the surprise and tell you what it is. Homefree even used Geoff's arrangement of Elvira for their video with Oak Ridge Boys. The VP lineup has changed several times over the years. Geoff Castelucci, the bass, and Layne Stein, the beatboxer, are the last two original members, and they also do the majority of the arrangements, taking it in turn each month. Always check the video notes to see who did what. They are incredibly creative and occasionally write additional lyrics, add new bridges, or add a rap as they did here. They do a great job of crediting everyone they work with. Whoever makes the arrangement is also responsible for planning the video shoot, with the help of Geoff's wife Cathy, their production manager. Eli (pronounced like jelly) Jacobson, rock tenor, does all the lighting and the FX backgrounds they have used in several of their videos, including this one. Occasionally also does an incredible arrangement, as he did for Creep. Cesar De La Rosa, baritone/tenor, is new to the group but has an incredible voice and is kind and loving. They are all incredibly talented and yet down to earth. Really looking forward to more reactions. Have subscribed in anticipation.

VoicePlay and Home Free were both on Season 4 of The Sing-Off back in 2013 and became friends. They’re very supportive of each other and even did a video together for the show that wasn’t aired but can be found on VoicePlay’s KZbin channel: Zombies vs. Hillbillies - Survivor. This is one you should definitely watch! VoicePlay’s beatboxer, Layne Stein, also helped Adam and Chris Rupp from Home Free with the arrangement for “The Butts Remix”, and VoicePlay’s bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, created the arrangement for “Elvira” that Home Free used for their collaboration with The Oak Ridge Boys. Please react to that one too - Tim thanks Geoff in the outro after the end of the song. I also second the suggestion of VoicePlay’s “Just Sing” with the subtitles on to identify all of the singers - and for some fun Easter eggs! You won’t find a bad VoicePlay song, and lately each new song is better than the last - I really don’t know how they do it! Try “Dream On”, “Nothing Else Matters”, “Seven Nation Army”, “In the Air Tonight”, “Drunken Sailor”, and a great one for Halloween “Oogie Boogie’s Song”. Enjoy the journey down this new rabbit hole! 😁

J None was a member of Voiceplay for years. He left two years ago to sing for the US Navy. (He was recently promoted to their premier vocal group, Sea Chanters.). When he can get leave, he comes back to Florida to perform with Voiceplay. That’s why he’s listed as featured for this video. Since Voiceplay is down one member, they usually bring in a featured artist, male and female. But because Geoff and Layne (the vocal percussionist) are such good arrangers , everyone sounds like they’ve been there forever. Which ever one does the arrangement is responsible for the costumes, set, direction and video editing. And all but the final vocal edit. (That goes to Ed Boyer, one of the best in the business.). Eli - the tenor - usually does the lighting and a couple times has taken over the main role as arranger, etc. We expect he will be doing more of that in the future. To get an idea of their range of offerings, I would suggest: We Don’t Talk About Bruno, Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), Drunken Sailor (for fun and laughs), and Hall of the Mountain King (no words, but they still tell a fun story!). But those are just suggestions. I’m sure you’ll enjoy anything you pick!

I just watched you react to one of my favorite HF (Helplessly Hoping) and enjoyed your reaction! But I'm subbing because it is delightful to watch a reactor go down the Voice play rabbit hole! You've been given several great suggestions. May I add a couple other than the big ones? My first favorite of theirs was Phantom of the Opera, my uncommon favorite is Tennessee Whiskey, and my latest favorite is Seven Nation Army.

Try Six Nation Army by Voiceplay. You get a different guy standing inJ None's place. They often have guests. J None was at one time a member of Voiceplay.

Miracle of Sound said this was the most creative cover of their song - and they gave it 10 out of 10 raised alehorns. Welcome to VoicePlay and their fans. You picked an incredible one to start with. The secret is there are no bad ones, check out my first one Hoist the Colours, Little Mermaid, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Nothing Else Matters, In the Air Tonight, Seven Nation Army, Creep and for a little (or a lot) of levity do react to Drunken Sailor. Geoff has his own channel for solos (not acapella) I love Monster Mash for Halloween, Ghost Riders in the Sky, and I See Fire from the Desolation of Smaug. J None used to be a member before the US Navy recruited him for their chorus. He's halfway through a 5 yr stint, comes back when he can and the fans are delighted to have him back for a video. VoicePlay and Home Free are friends, you can see a collaboration in Survivor: Zombies vs Hillbillies.

Hi Ginger. Enjoyed your Home Free reactions (my favorite group). Hoping you would react to my favorite solo artist, Marcelito Pomoy as he sings “The Prayer” on the Wishbus. (A Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli cover). You will not belief what you are hearing….yes, he’s that good. He raised himself on the street from the age of seven….no formal training, he is self taught. Very talented artist. Hope you watch soon. Please and thanks! 🙏🏼👍

The rap was not part of the original song, but added by Voiceplay. This arrangement was done by Layne Stein, the beatboxer. He or Geoff Castellucci (the bass) are doing all their arrangements. They have a lot of amazing videos. Geoff can do super low notes as well as high. (Not as high as Eli _rhymes with jelly.) If you like this you will love Hoist the Colors High, Seven Nation Army, & their ridiculous version of Drunken Sailor. I subscribed in hopes that you follow and react to all of VoicePlay's videos. They really are amazing. I have no idea which I like best. (And if you like Geoff Castellucci's version of Monster Mass & Folsom Prison Blues.) Oh, please say you will react to them. 😁

VoicePlay ain't called the Theater Kids of A Cappella for nothing. Like with most everyone else, COVID changed thing a whole lot. There looks and style have changed a bit. Some of there earlier greatness was This is Halloween, What's This, Oogie Boogie's Song, and Kidnap the Sandy Claws, all from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Their wonderful Phantom of the Opera. You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. The Fox and Wookiee For Christmas. (And I'm sure Tim Foust stole one of their costumes.) The Chicken Song (10.7.16) and the FULL Chicken Song in MN 2014. Stevie Wonder's Superstition (I think the only other one where J None raps). Dasani Water Bottle Vocal Percussion. A Crimpella. Cheerleader. In the Hall of the Mountain King. The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late) Not all of these are songs, per se. Some are just showing off their performance skills (they're based in Florida and got started at DisneyWorld after all), their beatboxing skills, and their general goofiness. The ones I named are mostly the older ones, before their lineup was what it is today.

And their bass singer Geoff Castellucci more recently did a solo number from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas. He accompanies himself on piano for Jack's Lament. This is another one with goodies at the end of the song. The lady helping out behind the scenes is Geoff's wife Kathy. He's been doing a lot of "cloned" numbers lately. Check out his Elvis cover Way Down (note the name tags), and Ghost Riders in the Sky (the new guy, Daryl, is the one in long brown duster). The follow up to that last one is Unshaken, from the game Red Dead Redemption 2. Geoff is actually missing from that one; it's just the future ghost riders before they died.

The link for My Mother Told Me is at the end of this video. Story wise, this one is the sequel to that one. Then, J None was the group member and Jose Rosario Jr was the featured guest. Now, Cesar DeLaRosa is the group member is J None is the featured guys. He left for a 5 year stint singing for the navy and I'm hoping he'll come back in 2-3 years. A notice was posted on YT a day or so ago that J None got a promotion. Yay!! Loving that! I think he's going to be moving from the west coast to the east, closer to the group who are based in Florida, easier to join them for videos when on leave. If you check out the guys' clothes and face paint between the two video you'll it's mostly the same, with a few minor changes. Like, Cesar is wearing Geoff's leather shirt and Jose's hooded cloak. Miracle of Sound, the creator of this song, is not a group, but the name one man goes by, the composer of this song and the original artist. He has his own version of this song, solo. Another one featuring Peyton Parrish. and a third featuring Peyton Parrish and Eric Hollaway. (Be ready for his bass to shake you bones, singing or speaking.) Peyton Parrish also has a solo version. I have all 5 in my playlist. The VoicePlay version is the only one with rap. MoS loved it, giving it 10 out of 10 raised ale horns.
