There is literally a website dedicated to Messi vs. Ronaldo stats. Messi wins out in all aspects except for 1: Heading :) So unless you decide heading is the most important in football then the GOAT debate should be long dead. Messi is a once in a lifetime player. Hope one day there will be someone as good or better, but I doubt I will ever see it. Ronaldo is an amazing player though! The fact that he's even compared to Messi is a testament to his great ability.

My dad hesitated to add drama haha. The video is meant to entertain which is why I posed the question in the first place....as for Maradona, that's kind of a generational thing...I just got back from Buenos Aires two weeks ago & a lot of older people will say the same thing...also for them, Maradona resonated more from a cultural perspective. There's deep layers to this and as an American I don't fully understand but I'm making an effort

Is not that you were wrong about Messi, it's just that you looked at it from the perspective of an opposite team and, that, in itself, may give you a bias position against the game rivals. This is going to be normalized, Miami winning, because the team is learning to play together. Now add the new, more experience guys joining them soon, Inter will be "almost" unstoppable. I'm glad you and your dad had the chance to witness greatness.

I was ready to be a bit saucy about this video, but I actually dig the footage of you and your dad entering this humble site, which reminds me of the old Fire stadium in Chicago-- a bit out of the way, genuinely affordable entertainment, and real diversity in terms of the fans. Just that WC???? Sorry but you need to look for Napoli history. Is obvious that you haven´t seen Maradonas carreer or any football match of him or anything at all. You can like Messi more between the two, but you can´t compare two different futbolers, personalitys (what they meant in their time to us) and brillant carreers and outstanding skills that both had. (by the way watch also how it was played back then). It´s not all about records, its about the actual game of and how you play it and both are from another world.

Messi is a playmaker as well as a coach on the pitch, he's a genius, quick to read situations & immediately organizes tactics (as Guardiola said, Messi is more dangerous when he's just walking and looking around reading/scanning situations). It can be said that Inter Miami players are quite good and quickly adapt to follow Messi's rhythm and are ready to follow Messi's directions including receiving his long passes, it seems they are getting used to the tiki-taka pattern. These young players will continue to develop & it is not impossible that the Messi era Inter Miami will be at the forefront next season.

Inter Miami scoring that way against Philadelphia Union these days explains a lot. Messi, Busquets and Alba are pushing a gradual revolution of their game from the core. Because we must understand that this is a team sport and you need a lot of training and playing to find the perfect association with your team mates, although many, many teams never achieve that. In Miami side, when the team game was not enough for them, well, there was Messi with his magical moments that makes him the GOAT.

Totally agree with you...but in fairness only Messi made all of this possible. But in that match we gave Sergio way too much time and space. Our back line was constantly tracking Messi movements, and Martinez is also lethal. They're a tough team to stop at the moment...quality of our defenders in MLS needs to increase

I really appreciate that. I've been lucky enough to travel quite a bit and experience football culture but for many Americans, this is their first time really experiencing world class players like Messi, Busqets, and Alba...it's huge for the league & growth of the game in the US.

@The7dioses
@The7dioses 9 ай бұрын

It is how surprising many of these guys are so ignorant about Lionel Messi. You judge the guy after watching him play 3-5 games. I can’t blame. you. You should have watched him demolished teams in Europe in the last 15years. He was even more devastating!!!😊

I've been lucky enough to see Messi play before, and have followed his entire career. I wasn't surprised that Messi did what he did...it's the rest of the team that has also stepped up its quality. The Union beat this Miami team 5-1 before Messi joined...it's now a different game with Busquets and Alba also in the mix

It's always nostaligic reasons and rabona passes lmao. Nothing else is an argument. Messi is better. The thing is you're paying attention to people who think it really makes sense to put Ronaldo in the same conversation as Messi. These are people who actively watch the game and think they're comparable. Just lost cases.

Americans are used relying on scores for emotion. That's the way it is in NFL, NBL. This is a different kind of game. You generally don't see high scores, unless the difference between the two teams is significant. Football (not soccer) culture is not yet widespread in the US, but it will be pretty soon. The magic of football is in the teamwork, the passing, the rotation, the triangulation, the exquisite technique of some of the more talented players, the ones who are capable of changing a game with a couple of touches and pulling the unexpected from a hat. When you learn to watch for that, you will enjoy it far more. Messi is the undisputed GOAT, not just because of his skills, but because of his football IQ. He sees things nobody else sees. This has a huge impact on his teammates. He just makes everybody play better because he's the ultimate team player. He never cared about being a superstar. He's just a competitive beast, but he understands he can't do it alone, no matter how skillful he may be. It's like an orchestra conductor, except in his case, he also plays first violin like nobody.
