As a native Texan, as soon as I saw you planned to go through Nuevo Laredo, and enter into Laredo, I was concerned. That is one of the most intense border crossings on our Texas/Mexico border. If you had gone through Matamoros, Mexico/Brownsville, TX, your experience would have been much better. Sorry that happened to you. You just happened to pick a very dangerous part of Mexico on your way here. I just found your channel tonight and I love your positive attitude.

I had a similar experience going to Canada from America at international falls on a fishing trip crossing into Canada and there even worse than the us. So besides the search and alll the bs one guy in our group had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in Wisconsin a couple months prior and Canada knew that and would not let him in. we crossed at three in the morning Canada said there was a small possibility they would let our friend in but they have to wait till nine in the morning. The supervisor came in and then it would be up to his discretion whether my friend get in or not. So to and our group stayed back in international Falls in one car, and the rest of us moved onto our fishing destinations. Upon speaking to a supervisor at 9 AM the supervisor decided that they would let my friend across the border to go fishing but he had to pay a $250 fine so he paid the fine, and he asked the supervisor what would happen in the future and the supervisor indicated that if he came back to Canada in the next five years the same process could happen again, and a different supervisor could reject him altogether. So Canada isn’t any better than US in fact are much worse, but somehow they have this reputation that they don’t deserve. Every time we caught crossed into the United States they just seem to be worried about once we told them we were fishing. How many fish did you have? How big were they? What kind of fish do you have and a couple of times we got our coolers surged, and one time one of our grove got busted and we had a pathfinder. I’d be interested to know what you think about this.

I'm from Laredo and the border crossing is no joke. It's not surprising the scrutiny that they put you under. That particular crossing is responsible for the seizure of millions of dollars worth of narcotics, cash and cash not to mention people on a daily basis. The Interstate 35 to Interstate 10 corridor is one of the most heavily used smuggling routes for both drugs and humans. The Border Patrol checkpoint that you subsequently drove through when leaving Laredo is also a hotspot for seizures. Laredo is a friendly place as is Texas but we just happen to live in a very dangerous area. Laredo is the largest inland port in the country and is the crossing point for billions in cargo from trucks to trains traveling north and south. The entire stretch of border here is frequently being infiltrated by the cartels. I'm glad you made the crossing through Tamaulipas safe. I've traveled through there and the feeling is not pleasant.

This "always feeling under the pressure of time" really resonates with me. When I was 19, and travelled to Europe alone, I bought an old VW van in Amsterdam, driving it as far as Athens and the isle of Crete, and always I felt the urge to move on after only a few days in one place. Along the way I met countless travelers who would find a place they liked, and just settle in there, like the German man in this video. I thought these urges would die down as time went on, but they haven't. I suppose the nomadic soul craves movement, and the discovery of new people and places. Yet in that movement there are moments of pure bliss...

It’s dreadful! The same thing happened to me, but it got worse. They held me in an overcrowded underground cell for 4 days, then held me captive at a detention centre for 3 weeks, and made me fly back to England. I had done nothing wrong! I arrived by land, with a us friend, after volunteering as an English tutor in Mexico. The online us government website stated there’s be a 1-94W entry form to fill out. The guard at the entrance ok’d me to enter the building, next thing I knew I was being arrested for being in the building without a visa!? Absolute nightmare! I documented it on my yt channel and wrote a little book about it (detained, by Dee Lee) on Amazon, as therapy, and to hopefully she’d light and help others avoid such an ordeal! I’m glad you’re ok! And that was only the beginning. What Eva went through was the tip of the iceberg, but still very shocked and traumatic. They seem to treat people as though they are guilty of a crime, until they find out they’re innocent, then they let them go, as if nothing happened! I still have nightmares. That border incident is all part of being a traveler. Our family which consisted of naturalized Chinese Americans and Chinese Australians decided to go to Tijuana from Sacramento. My family all had accents as they migrated to America after high school or later. When presenting ourselves to border customs we declared we were US and Australian citizens. I got through because I was only 6 years old when I immigrated so I didn't have an accent and they let me enter. My brother and one sister (no passports) and another sister and brother in-law who had Australian passports were held and interrogated for several hours in an interview room before they decided to let them through. This was in the 90's so its worse now.

You went to Russia and are entering via Mexico, that's a massive red flag. You went to a nation the US has been at odds with and are reentering the US indirectly. You could be a spy, terrorist, foreign agent, smuggler, gangster, cartel, etc. The question about the parents was to determine if you have any foreing allegiances/funded by foreign parties. Crossing Borders is not supposed to be easy, its a massive national security risk especially for world powers. You should consider yourself lucky that the border isn't nearly as secure as its supposed to be given the past 30 years of continuosly weakened security

So weird. Where I grew up, that would be an insolent question. Quite offensive, as it is considered quite a personal matter.

As an American, it is shocking how difficult it is to travel home after visiting abroad. Extra questions and extra searches....and that is flying back from Europe with a US passort. After jumping around Europe and Central America with such little fuss, I always forget to give myself extra, extra time when returning home...and I'm a white, middle age woman. Cant even image the nightmare it is for others. Once you begin to emerse yourself as you travel north, I hope you find it well worth that unpleasant and scary experience. P.S. I love the Texas hill country. New Mexico IS the land of enchantment; Utah is not to missed. It would not be Expedition Wild without time in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. All great preps for ur next country: Canada. The Canadian Rockies are mind blowing. So excited for u. Onward and forward!

You have to realize that a USCBP officer particularly in Texas has probably never heard of Poland and if he has it's probably from Fox News so it's not good. Helping Ukrainians, so probably Nazis.

If she was a Spanish speaking Illegal Alien, then she would've been invisible to the U.S. Border patrol... They have their orders to harass and antagonize American Citizens; and not the other way around...

Wow this is really cool. I'm so glad I found this channel. You're a great KZbinr and your adventures are amazing. As is your ability to tell the story and put it into this vlog format. I've been to Laredo many times, but never across the border there. Just the u.s. Canada border which is typically much simpler for a standard humdrum US citizen. Three years ago I began a job as a freight expeditor meaning I just haul freight around the United States in a big van that I stay in, much like a long-haul trucker. I'm super happy to have another channel with interesting content to explore. I could relate to a lot of it in many ways but you also provide a lot of new perspectives which is really cool. Anyhow cool to meet you hope all is well.

I’ve just subscribed to this channel and enjoy following your adventures. So inspiring but as much as I love watching, I am equally if not more, upset and embarrassed about your treatment. Our country was changed forever by 911 and continues on a downward path as a divided nation. I love my country and proud to be an American but it breaks my heart to hear of stories like this. May the rest of your trip be filled with joy and happiness. Fair travels

@@GM-cq6ez Clearly you DON'T mean "Primy the drug dealer," or "Primy the mafioso leader," correct? lol How about "People are TYPICALLY lovely south of the border" so that they're not confused with gun-wielding criminals?

Canada into Alaska, USA? It is the same schit. Passport, visa, proof of your existence documentation out the Ying Yang. I worked at a truck stop in the Border. It was hell getting into Alaska from there(before 9-11) Can only be worse now.

My past experience tells me you never cross the US border alone, because then they just assume you are a drug smuggler. I once had 3 hours of questioning because I flew solo from New Zealand and they were pretty open with that fact that they believe it's suspicious if you are by yourself

Bottom line , you are a VERY BRAVE person to travel alone. Be safe always and be more careful in planning your next move. Have fun and take extra good care of yourself.
