Good approach. (It's close to how I teach triads, too!) A practical use is to 'work' two inversions of the same chord along the neck, useful for finding good lines for soloing.

Love that approach!

Good and funny one, especially about CAGED. I thought I knew every teacher on KZbin, but just found you. So many teachers don't put diagrams up on the screen, most of us are visual learners. I like triads on strings 1-4. I never realized the switch from the 3 note top of the A shape to that F chord you show at 1:03. I would normally go from the A shape to the D shape on strings 1-3 at the same fret for the F.
@guitarfriendtim Жыл бұрын
Thanks, and absolutely - your recipe sounds good too. i find there's a plentitude of options, and a fav go-to pair can help me feel ready for the changes in a song as they come up.
@frankm2588 Жыл бұрын
@@guitarfriendtim I really have to roll my index finger over to the "thumb side" to get that G string to sound when switching to the 3-finger higher triad. But that works. If the finger is flat that G string is muted. Did you mention if you just slide up 2 frets you have the V chord.

Fantastic video! Something I have found very useful is the idea “one is to four as five is to one”… so that if you get the C to F triad pair, and say it’s the I and the IV, you can move it to the V chord of that key and now the exact same move is V to I (G to C) 😮🤯🤓

@@guitarfriendtim just some feedback as I see you're a small channel and as someone who's been breaking my head to figure out how to make something worthwhile on KZbin as well, I assume you'd welcome the feedback :) I'm a relatively experienced guitarist so your video was easy for me to understand and I got that the key takeaway was that less is more and perfecting smaller pieces of information is any day better than trying to learn it all at once :) However, my wife is more of a basic guitarist and when I shared it with her, she found it to be too complicated to understand and most of it went over her head 😅 Just some insight which may help you double down on your target audience and continue to make great work. Thanks again for your time and hope you keep making great stuff! 😊👍🏼

well yeah, but.... you should probably just know some basic triad shapes cold (maj, min, dom, maj7) all over the guitar. and yes it will probably take you months to really own them. and you should be able to relate them to your chord shapes (yes CAGED), scales, and arpeggios. At some point you need to ditch the shortcuts and just know your stuff. Funny video though.
