So as a vintage buyer, the green us oxidation from the brass, easy clean up, they probably had that in a bathroom closet, mostiure and oxygen, i would would have tossed that into the washing machine after a oil down, yup it was stored very very badly

For 55 on that bag, once cleaned and oiled up well, it was worth 300 plus. That was the anniversary first addition. Honestly, as a vintage coach collector and restoration seller myself, that was pretty great condition for the age.

The pictures they showed were deceitful on the listing. I believe this bag was bought and restored by a subscriber after I returned it. TFW 🥰

I got one that was horrible and I dunked it in dawn soap bath. Scrubbed it stuffed it with towels. And it’s beautiful now. Then I put leather conditioner on it. But I paid $20. It was worth the risk.

Eeeeww! That is gross! That green stuff looks like algae. It was probably kept in a warm, damp place for a period of time. Glad you can return it. Honestly, if I had a bag like that, I wouldn’t even donate it because it’s just not nice to do this to people. So sorry for your terrible experience but thanks for sharing.

Ok so I actually bought this bag…not realizing that it had been purchased and returned. I agree it was GROSS and I too asked for a return. But then, I decided to keep and rehab it. It was my first attempt at a coach rehab. It actually turned out really well. The “bones” of the bag were good. Some saddle soap and leather cpr and brasso did the trick.

Im glad you got your money back due to all the issues.... the verdigris (green tarnishing) is normal for brass. It would take some elbow grease but it would have cleaned up nice especially for the price you got this bag for. Vintage bags go for a pretty penny now on the resale market since coach is buying bags back to sell them again as reloved bags. I just got an Ali bag from posh and it had some of the vertigris and darkening. after a clean up.. its amazing. i hope you find one that suits you! They truly are lovely bags.

Ooooof. Yeah this one was a BAD one for sure. I found it aggravating Mercari kept changing the stipulations of the return almost the entire process as well. Glad everything worked out and this went right back to the person trying to peddle this garbage. I feel like they're gonna see this bag come back a few times due to the condition.
