The first time I visited Thailand, I came with the list of the restaurants I should eat. And when I was in Bangkok walked around I forgot about the list of restaurants, I just eat whatever on the street that please my eyes and nose. What I loved best in Thailand is “The Thai people hospitalities”, what I hated most is “the bargain on Tuktuk and no meter taxi”, as the US custom I always tip the taxi drivers, many time I tip the “taxi with meter” more than the fare to award his honesty.

The ferry you took to the market is the Hop On & Hop Off Tourist Boat. It's the one-dollar-ticket-for-a-billion-dollar-view ferry! You can get an unlimited one-day hop on and hop off for 150 Baht as well. The local market you went to is called Wang Lang, which translates as the Palace In The Back. Just across the street is one of the best hospitals in Asia. It's the go-to place for the Thai royal family. Maybe Prince Harry and his wife can come here too while being cast off like that. Yes, one should try to speak Thai when in Thailand. That's an endearing attitude.
The salak fruit is called 'snakefruit' in English. I don't know if you tried the marinated fried pork in Wang Lang or not. It is quite famous there and there is also an egg noodle restaurant I used to go with my mom when I was a little kid. It was delicious.

Salacca fruit Sumalee species or ZALACCA EDULIS REINW. It is a plant in the family PALMAE, originated in Asia. The trunk looks like a rhizome, a shrub, growing up into a clump with spikes in clusters. The leaves are large and wide. The difference is that the tip of the leaf is shorter. It is also a strain that produces fruit easily, the taste is completely sweet. There is no sour taste like taking other species.

The third dish is called Five Star Grilled Chicken. They have many branches. It is a food that is popular to eat with sticky rice in Thailand.
