I just think that we should highlight the president and his wife's role in Ai's family dynamic. They essentially became Ai's parents and by extension the twin's grandparents. Not that it was ideal or intentional and it definitely started in self-interest. They definitely didn't sign up to be parents. They're a part of Ai's life flashing before her eyes. The president just looks completely catatonic when she dies. They privately adopted the twins to no benefit to themselves. Miyako is the one who has to officiate the funeral. And to protect the twins' identity, they had to watch the funeral from a car window.

The president had 2 cups out when he went drinking. One cup for him, and one for Ai on her 20th birthday, drinking the same sake they celebrated the Dome concert with. That little detail is so heartbreaking to me

Actually there was an incident where an idol was stabbed multiple times by her fan, just because she returned the gifts she got from him or something like that. Things like this do happen to idols irl as sad as this piece of info is 😭 The fact tht they cant love anyone so tht they only appear available for their fans is so messed up, things like this just encourages these toxic fans to build parasocial relationships with their fans and its rlly rlly sad

@@DisingenuousComment I'm just saying of recent I've seen more of these incidents happen to idols from kpop, jpop industries. And idols have it more tough, cuz they are literally shunned and sent death threats\stalked by their fans if they catch a wisp of their romantic relationships (which most of them can't have because of their strict agencies pandering and profiting money out of these psychotic fans). So idols have to appear like they only belong to these fans so the agencies behind them can profit more. It's depressing really. Like because of these female and male idols aren't allowed to make contact with each other, lest their toxic fans combust from seeing their favourite idol hang out with a guy or vice versa. So yea i wasn't saying these things do not happen to celebrities outside of Jpop, Kpop, it's just kind of sad that they can't even form any meaningful relationships for the majority of their life as idols

some supplementary notes: - to give a sense of scale, most everyone wants to perform at budokan - a venue that's for them at the cultural scale of people wanting to perform at madison square garden. that b komachi was already at budokan when sarina was a patient shows the degree of their popularity. the domes in japan, to my recollection, are usually for baseball and could seat tens of thousands of fans (IIRC tokyo dome has one of the largest concert capacities at 55k). for any artist to tour exclusively at the 6 major domes is really big. but also, for that degree of popularity, in terms of probability, creeps and stalkers are also so much more likely - deluded shut-ins who didn't talk to anybody (or only talked online in toxic cesspools). - what the babies were doing is wotagei - calls and chants, mixes, and moves (waza). it's basically fans doing their part to return the energy from the idols and increase the hype, like a feedback loop of fun. that "oi! oi! oi! oi!" from the other fans is the typical call that's done to the beat - there's other calls that are also used depending on song structure and the specific song. mixes would be chants used during the intro or the instrumental break. one part of idol fan culture is that, while the calls are mostly whatever fits the rhythm, fans may organize and customize the calls for each song, and what mixes may be used (one might say the "babu babu babu babu" is the twins' "babu" mix lol). the waza, the moves that the twins were doing, are its whole entire thing. mainstream venues may only allow calls, chants, and mixes, but no waza. uchishi, those who are actively into wotagei, maybe even as its own dance subculture, would have their own groups (some are active on youtube, tik tok, and so on). technically you can theoretically apply wotagei to any song, and uchishi have their own fun making their own art of it. - what the twins were waving around were UOs. ultra oranges, aka UOs, are super bright glowsticks. UOs get _very_ bright lol. they stay bright for only a few minutes, so you usually snap them right at the part of the song that gets you most hyped. if you look at the other fans, they have penlights, battery-powered lightsticks, noticable because of the handles. some may sell depending on a specific idol's color. but there's general penlights that can swap between several colors.

The creator of Oshi No Ko apparently didn't originally intend to kill Ai, but as he was writing the story, he found that she was such a strong character that she was overshadowing everyone else, so he realized he had to kill her off.

Certainly helped keep us in the drama of Ai's life with her kids and made it easier to connect with her as a character and then feel every flipping emotion after. (Since the doc and the girl got reincarnated, will Ai get that chance, too? I guess we'll see...)

@@withneeks If you aren't completely turned off by the central character dynamic it's definitely worth pushing a little further into the series because past that point it gradually starts diving into the neuroses of the main couple and fleshing out the supporting cast.

There's two words 'Oshi' in Japanese that have the same pronounciation but written with different kanji. One of them is indeed 'to push', but the one in this anime is a different kanji, 'to recommend'. It can be interpreted as putting Ai on a pedestal because she's a cut above the rest.

I also thought Ruby could have been behind this but for different reasons. Sarina (Ruby) mentions that she wanted to marry the doctor (Aqua) when she was still hospitalized. I think just maybe Ruby got jealous and spread info to keep Aqua for herself; but that also doesn't make sense because Ruby doesn't know that Aqua is the doctor.

Literally impossible. 1) Ruby/Sarina is a devoted and dedicated Ai fan, and she loves her mom so much that, even though she will willingly go wage flame wars on the internet because they bad-mouthed Ai, she will *never* reveal anything about her and Aqua's identities as Ai's children. Plus, as they keep saying, if news about Ai having children at the age of 16 got out, her career would be dead to rights and her agency would absolutely be compromised due to the scandal. 2) The stalker already knew that Ai was pregnant before Ruby and Aqua were born. He was literally there on the night Ai was going to give birth and Goro just so happened to come across him when he was taking a break/about to go home for a quick rest (which then resulted in his death and reincarnation soon after). The only reason the stalker was able to find out where Ai lived despite her address being kept secret for her privacy, as well as to keep Aqua and Ruby's existences a secret, was because Ai contacted her ex-lover and told *him* the address so that he could maybe visit the twins even at least once-- meaning Ai's ex let slip where she was living to the stalker.

I have not read the novel so i can only go by the anime and aqua's assumption that it could be the dad is just that at the moment, a speculation. Given that the murderer was a stalker, it wouldn't be impossible that he just followed them back. By vehicle plate number or other forms of stalking.

@@artist_johnargendomingo9027 Not an anime watcher and am a manga reader, I can definitely say that Ruby absolutely will not reveal anything about her connection Ai to anyone because she loves her mom, so telling anyone about her and Aqua's true parentage will be tantamount to scandalizing Ai's name since it actually *is* one. So the rage posting slip-up will not happen. Plus, despite her temper, Ruby isn't as stupid or as air-headed as she seems. If so, then why did the stalker wait for 4 years before he confronted and stabbed Ai to death? The stalker was already willing to murder Goro/Aqua when the man attempted to confront him the night he was there at the hospital, so why did he not try and follow Ai back to her place? Or literally try anything else to get to her before the 4 year timeskip? As Aqua says, he's just a random nobody with absolutely no connections or much skill, yet he managed to find out where the famous Hoshino Ai lived on his own? (As for the dad being part of the murder, it's already pretty much heavily implied way in the manga that yes, he was indirectly involved.)
