Your professional voice on TV and style of presenting news will forever remain in our hearts. These days media 🏘 are jokers. They call comedians news presenters as if all viewers are teenagers. We miss Kathleen Openda, Kasavuli, Jimmy Gathu, Mboya, Mwaura, etc on TV.screens. These fellows were born to read news: voice, style, etiquette....very professional. We are left with Lulu and Nimrod. If they quit, some of us will read standard newspaper. These days newscaster are a big joke. Language issues, lack of etiquette, lack of professionalism.

Jimmy the journalist came across as decent, creative, passionate and humble which this interview demonstrates. He often reached out to me for radio interviews on State of the Nation and People's Parliarment. I worked in the area of human rights advocacy then. Among the lessons learnt, employment is not an until death do us part affair. Always have a back up plan and know your worth. However, I understand how blind we can be when we are winning accolades and raking profits for the employer. Learn to live within means, invest progressively and save for a rainy day. Thanks Jimi for being bold enough to share your journey. All the best.

For those who don't know that phrase, this is how it's said... 'Jimmy Jam, Jimmy Jam, Jam-A-Delic'. Jimmy Gathu was our guy every day of the week: Monday - Rap'Em - Gangster Rap all the way Tuesday - Kass Kass - Lingala Wednesday - Rastrut - Cool reggae vibes Thursday - Jam-A-Delic - Pure RnB Friday - Rythmix - Blues for the lover boys n girls Saturday - Club Kiboko - this was hosted together with the late Lorna Irungu. An A-Team it was. We used to look up to Jimmy and Lorna as our role models. I'm now saved and may not listen to those music I used to like, but Jimmy as a person still remains as a role model. Jimmy Gathu, Has A Lot Of 'Woo'. He Can Win Others Over. Amazing To Hear The Talent He Molded From Humble Radio Beginnings. Yvonne Okwara, Mwakazi, Mwalimu King'ang'i, Maina Kageni, Charles Kerich . . . To Mention But A Few. It Seems Strangers Are Energizing As Opposed To Intimidating To Jei Gee. Once He Spots A Common Interest, Aih, The Guy Can Flow With It. Once The Painful Matters Have Been Dealt With, The Man Can Break The Ice And Build Rapport. This Is The Jimmy We Knew. The Chap Who Could Easily Overflow His Threshold. The Then Younger Man, So i Learnt, Combed Audience Spaces And Threw New Compositions And Faces Into Them. Now I Know Who Set Up Hot '96! I Still Saw An Internal Fire In J.G. A Whisper Of Discontent And A Relentless Disquiet For Taking The Game To Its Fringes. Jimmy Should Try A Hand In Talent Search And Mgmt. Though He Has Been Best In Dynamic Situations, He's Now A Contemporary Grandpa, With Ripe And Mellow That The Industry Would Need. The Info Space Today Is Chocking With Clutter. The Idea Space Is Getting Dry -- Yet Events Are Not Static. They Need To Be Brought To Life, To Be Energized And Made Exciting And Vivid. The Dry Ideas Need Stories, Images And Metaphors. People Have Shorter Attention Spans, They Are Bombarded By Material. But Very Little Of It Survives Long Enough. Yet Attention Needs To Be Captured, And Locked In. That Has Import And Essence, Yes. The Space Is Lacking Craftsmen Who Hunt For Meaningful Phrases, Dramatic Words, And Powerful Combinations Easily Listened To. J.G Can Be A Handy 3rd Force To Assemble A 3rd-Way "Summit" Beyond What Sibi Okumu Marveled The Then End Users. Let Kenya Not Go All The Way Low, Bcos This Will Be How We Model Who Are Our Icons And Leaders. KeepPushingItJimmyGathu.
