All I can say is I feel you brother. About 8 months ago I had stopped to grab my crab trap and in doing so I saw a bunch of fish so I casted out a couple times. My last cast I got my new lure stuck on a dock about 25 feet out into the ocean at high tide. Also it was over 15 mph winds and about 60 degrees outside. I go to the dock and notice it is the definition of SKETCHY. it was missing planks and all. I got past half way out when a board wobbled, I told my self go back but I didn't. I got to the bait and turn around to walk back on a 4x4. My second step the board makes a sudden twitch,throws me off balance and plop right into the water. Broke my middle finger trying to catch myself. I panicked because I went completely under taking in water. I try to reach the dock but am about a foot away. Finally by the grace of the Lord I calmed down for a split second and saw a boulder under me and put one foot on and got up and out. Soaked and freezing cold, ruined my phone and my work phone and almost fucking died bro! Like u said, while I was panicking I thought to myself "this is those stories on the news of people drowning, this is how it happens.

Someone once bet me that I would not swim across a pond one day. It was a pretty big pond, so... I really did not want to accept the challenge. Then I was shown a brand new fishing rod and reel... and was told it would be mine if I did it. Well, challenge accepted. I ended up swimming across the pond. It was very, very exhausting. Thanks to that experience... I will never try something like that again. I'm sure you learned a big lesson this day! Stay safe, man. I really enjoy your videos. Always good to see other people from the area doing good, fishing related things.

I too was caught by surprise. Left the boat on a short anchor rope on a dead calm day with no clouds in sight and went for a swim. Within minutes a wind storm blew in and away went the boat. A kind gentleman picked me up and we chased down my boat which by this time was about 1/4 mile away. Morel of this story, expect the unexpected. Glad you're OK!!

My uncle fell off his boat into 59 degree water back in 2007. He was in great shape and phenomenal swimmer. He ended up drowning because the water was just too cold and he couldn't make it back to his boat in time 😔 be careful in water under 60 degrees and always where a life jacket. Doesn't take long for shock and hypothermia to set in. Glad ur okay man 👍

Excellent video Chris!! about 2 years ago I was out fishing a lake and the winds was at least 15 to 25 I was in my boat and drifted into just a ft of water and my outboard wasnt good enough to get me back in deeper water, half that area of the lake was flats and could not canoe my way into deeper water due to the high wind and there was some guys hunting ducks in a boat and they didnt want to help me, but I was blessed to figure out a way to get back across the lake and still finished the fishing trip that day and caught fish!

Zvch. actually a pretty good bit. not an excessive amount but plenty enough for making really long casts. I keep the my backing to a minimal with the 50’s so I can squeeze a little bit more main line on

Chris Triple A, American Automobile Association, has a membership plan that has roadside assistance and allows for towing of a vehicle and trailer up to 100 miles. If I were you, with all the travel and fishing you do, I'd buy the plan, The other good thing about it is the plan follows you and not your vehicle, meaning if you're fishing with a buddy and his tow vehicle or boat trailer breaks down you can still call AAA to come out and help you. Actually, I'm a member myself and have that plan. It's saved my butt a few times. Costs a little over $100 a year. I've had it pay for itself many times. I bought a new boat package in 05 and the dealer didn't tighten the trailer lug nuts properly. I went about 20 miles and noticed in my side mirror that the tire was wobbling on the trailer. Pulled over and looked at it and found that some of the lug bolts had been sheared off and there was no way to put on the spare tire. So I called AAA and they came with a flatbed truck and put my boat, and trailer on it and hauled it home for me. Then I called them again a couple of days later and they came and took it to the dealer for free repairs. There are other roadside assistance plans out there. You don't have to join AAA in order to get this type of help. So shop around for the best deal. But DO get yourself a roadside plan for these kinds of situations. What would you have done if Paul and the others weren't there to help or if you were stuck out on a back road in Minnesota or Ontario after a muskie trip? If you fish and pull a boat sooner or later you're going to need some help.
@MsPrincesspaulina
@MsPrincesspaulina 6 жыл бұрын
P.S. I forgot to mention that the AAA membership plan is called: AAA Plus RV. That's what you need to cover your boat and trailer too. Otherwise a normal membership only covers the vehicle. You can Google it.

I meet a ex special forces guy who had his boat drift from the dock after he just put in. It was on lake Ontario in early April. He dove in to get it. Same deal wind was blowing cold as hell. He caught up with his boat but said he was to weak to get in his boat. He was really lucky because some other guys from Ohio saw him and helped pull him in their boat and ran him back to the ramp and put him his truck and turned the heater on. He said he was nodding off while he was hanging on to his outboard like a junkie. WARNING to all you guys from the South. If you come up here looking for big bronze backs stay in your boat! The great lakes are the real deal and have sent many a man home in a box!

Another bad idea is to flip a canoe in april in maine. My life vest was too small for me so it was unzipped which makes it a bit of a hindrance to swim with, and my fishing line got wrapped all around me. I spent all my energy trying to flip the canoe back over and had pretty much given up from being tired and freezing when someone came out of nowhere and pulled me into their boat. I hadn't seen another boat on the water all day. The guy at the store I stopped at on the way home gave me a pretty funny look when I put the six pack on the counter and had to peel my $10 bill apart from the rest of my money while I dripped all over his floor. He said "little cold to be out swimming isn't it?" and I was like "yeah, probably should give it a month or two before I try that again"
