Henry should have clarified things in the beginning and told FL his feelings. She appeared to have had feelings for him apart from gratitude and should have told Henry this instead of the continued reference to the good Samaritan situation. They wasted years because of this failure to communicate. He tormented her and she suffered when they could have had a real relationship. They were both foolish. Later, when Henry went to prison, I think she should have made at least one visit.
