So a little story here. I traveled to the US in 2014 as a Work&Travel student from Russia. After landing in NYC, i was trying to save some money and find a cheaper way to go from the airport to the Grand Central Station (I needed to go to Boston and to Provincetown afterwards). I was kinda short on money that's why I haven't used the train. And I was COMPLETELY lost in the middle of nowhere several hours later. I didn't have a SIM-card, so i was buying coffee in McDonalds to use their WiFi there and figure out where the hell should I go. I was scared because that didn't look like a good neighbourhood at all. (I was 19 yo) But thank god I found a very nice lady (black if it matters) at around 12 am standing at the bus stop. I asked her for help and she not even walked with me to the right bus stop but also payed for me since I didn't have a card and gave me some other useful advices. God bless that lady and her family. The point is: there are a lot of good people everywhere around the world, don't judge others based on their skin colour or religion or whatever. Welcome to Russia, my friend!

In 2003 I was a student and went to France for a year. I didn't have a cellphone this time. One day I had to meet my Russian friend at the railway station, but I lost my way. When I finally got to the station my friend had already gone. It was about noon and my next train was at 20.00. I was so disappointed and upset, that I sat and started to cry. No one came to me except an arabian man, I don't know exactly where from he was. Maybe from Morocco or Algeria. He asked me what was the matter. I explained that I had to find my friend because it was supposed to spend holidays at her place. He brought me to his tiny shoeshop, his wife worked there. She brought me a big plate with food and made me eat. She talked to me and in the evening they brought me to the railway station just for my train. I was very grateful to them. There were several other situations when arabian people helped me in France. I always remember them with recognition.❤

Рекомендую 2 варианта для путешествия: 1) Можешь комфортно посетить столицу или (Санкт Петербург) это будет похоже на посещение городов европы с русским акцентом. 2) Либо можешь поискать туристическое агенство и съездить в сибирь, или на байкал. Этот вариант будет более тесно связан с русской природой и традициями. Еще можно съездить в Дагестан, это южный регион, находящийся среди гор Кавказа, очень красивый и чтящий свои традиции

I traveled to St Petersburg years ago for work, it was absolutely beautiful. I've traveled to most of the larger cities within the US and I was so impressed with how clean Russia was, no graffiti, no bums laying around on the streets, no pan handlers on the street corners, etc, etc.

this used to be a problem a while back, but it's now more or less gone thank you to all the workers who are keeping our city clean! i talked to a lot of them, they're nice people st petersburg in my eyes is more beautiful than moscow, but that's probably because of the fact that i lived here for 10 years already miss my hometown a bit, it's very soviet but has a beauty to it as well if you haven't seen our subways, you really missed out

Congrats to you. Former cold war Marine here. Wanted to see what it was like with my own two eyes. What a pleasant surprise. I've been there 8 times since 2014. Mainly the far east. Beautiful place, but the winter is no joke. 😀 I don't speak Russian either. The girls are seemingly everywhere, and quite friendly. Great food, restaurants, malls and coffee shops. Like culture shock coming from the U.S. Clearly, no perfect place on this planet.. But, clearly the Russians are doing something right all right.

@@cezarwat395 I don't get when people like BKK, I didn't like it at all. Smelly, not clean, you can see rats, traffic jams are insane and it's kind of a bit depressing. I didn't like Pattaya either. Hatyai was the worst. The only city in Thai that I liked was Chiang Mai. On the other hand Krabi and many Thai islands I absolutely love. Also Thai people are nice and the country is relatively safe.

I want to visit Russia one day, although i belong to the people who are afraid of the country. In Europe,most people talk badly about Russia and how bad the propaganda is and that the country is not safe but there have been so many people that visited Russia and foreigners always said positive things.Thats why I want to visit Russia one day too. I have Russian friends here in Germany and they're very kind and humble people. I've also met other Russians and all of them are people to look up to,which motivates me even more to take a look at the country one day.

You definitely should give it a try. There's a lot to see, and people generally speak English, especially youth in larger cities. Also, keep in mind that despite a complicated history between our countries (think one Austrian country leader), people view Germans in a positive light, as hardworking and organized folk. If something is "of German quality", it is considered of excellent craftsmanship and reliability. There is even a couple of local appliances brands that carry German-sounding names as a marketing ploy to make the products seem more reliable. As a safe option you can try one of the cruises that sail from Finland or Scandinavia and dock in St.-Petersburg to give a short (a few days) tour of the city. Enough to get a rough impression, and the city is nice in May and June during the white nights.

150 рублей мороженное с любой начинкой стоит в ГУМе, а РЖД просто зажрались, судя по ценам в их пошлых ресторанах и витриной продажи от проводников в вагонах. Да здравствует лапша быстрого приготовления и прочие продукты из простых магазинов, на которых спокойно можно продержаться недорого несколько дней в поездке на РЖД

At the first dates of June, my daughter goes to Moscow for several days. I envy her very much, because I haven’t been to the capital for more than 15 years and I see that after years the city has become even more beautiful. @@IgorOtm насчет климата это кому как, мне очень нравится, у нас есть полноценные 4 время года, плавно от жары до холода, зима, снег - красота, сугробы, лыжи, горки, снежки, новый год, потом весна, оттепель, ландыши, капель, воздух после зимы особенный, ручейки, девченки начинают раздеваться, солнышко светит ярче, травка появляется, все зеленеет, далее лето, жара, речки, пляжи, шашлыки, девки раздетые, мороженное, квас, далее надоедает жара, подкатывает осень, становится прохладней, чистый воздух, освежающий ветерок, листься желтеют и краснеют, красота, капают дожди, настроение филосовское, далее зима и так по кругу, как только одно начинает надоедать, сразу наступает новая фаза, и это супер

Rule of thumb for what you can and cannot film in Russia - if you can see it with your own eyes, you can film it. There is no expectancy of privacy while you're in a public place or a privately owned place that is accessible to the public (like stores). Basically, if you entered it on your own, didn't pay for entry, there was no bouncer filtering who can enter, you didn't use a key or a passcode to enter it, it's not a toilet or changing room, and so on, you can film there. Police may get annoyed buy you filming them, so I wouldn't recommend it per se for visitors, but it's totally legal (and encouraged by the government). Few exceptions: Kids. Do not make them a focus of your video. If they got into a wide shot it's fine, unless parents come and ask you to stop filming, but this last part is more of a courtesy. Military installations, personnel, vehicles, etc, I think for obvious reasons. It's not illegal in most cases, but who wants spending 1-24hours being questioned by police. Documents of other people, so be careful with where you point the camera in banks, post offices and such. It's technically their job to protect the documents from prying eyes, but again, who wants to be questioned by police. In places of religious worship, it may be considered rude. Other thing, if you ever get into trouble, call 112, it's an emergency line. It's free (unless it's a prank call).
