Yes!!! That's exactly right. Even Nostalgia Nomics said that 151 was printed so much that SPC went to Costco, ETB went to Costco, and Mini Tins went to Sam's Club. 151 was printed during the beginning of the 4 first sets. And mind you, pokemon prints these MONTHS in advance. So fast forward today. Prismatic was in the printing lines 4 months ago, when everyone was hating on Shrouded Fable, Twilight Masquerade etc. So, they obviously printed less NOT to create this artificial demand that Nomics is saying, but rather because they printed these at a time when demand wasn't that high.

In the late 90s it was very hard to find base set and jungle, and the only product around were mainly packs from a booster box (with a limit of 1-2 packs depending on where we found them). No promo boxes, ETBs, collector boxes, etc. that have anywhere from 2-11 packs. We had 1-2 packs to try our luck and it was hard to pull a holo let alone Charizard with that amount of packs. Idk if we grew up faster but we just understood it was part of the game, hype, and experience of chasing this stuff down. Some of the folks say the printing happened many months ago, there is a chance their forecast for Journey together may have been made before the surging sparks boom. We badly need a statement from Pokemon on the under printing and that more will be printed for Prismatic, otherwise no one wins as no one can get products easily.

Pokemon are reducing supply to bring the overall market to accept MRSP as the beach mark for products. This also then leads the PC to actually clear their stock of products faster for a better margin of sales directly rather than having to wait until all distros and stores sell out of stock and years later still have certain products in their warehouse which they simply don't want. Simple business tactics which creates short term mania in the hobby. Look at the side of the Pokemon company guys.👍

The problem is that the prices are only high because there are professional scalpers buying all the product from big box stores. The market has plenty of supply but it's all being resold. I'm not sure why pokemon company doesn't just print to demand like they do in Japan from time to time. Let everyone put in their orders and then 6 months later it all shows up at their door. It'll be MSRP because that's what PC sells at but you won't have to fight people or pay over that price. PC makes their money and everyone gets their product. There can be limits or whatever but you get the point. Fighting for product isn't fun when the only reason you're fighting is because someone else has a computer program set to buy everything before you can check the website.

I really appreciate what you say, but I don't agree. We can't ask Pokemon to print tens of millions of boosters per day. It's not 1995. It's not 2000. The material world is over. Digital is the future. Even books!! don't print like before, because it costs too much to produce. They can't lower material costs. So they went digital. Pokemon on digital. Everyone is free. Pokemon on the physical market. This will become more and more rare as the years go by. Because we are at the end of the cycle of the physical product consumer society. Hello to those who are 20/25 years old. You are right at the beginning of the end.

And in Pokemon, there is no one who is in charge of this mess. It's an atmosphere. This is the time. People lose their minds being on social media for hours. People waste hours yelling at video games. People eat poorly. Drink anything. Do not enjoy life properly. Spend their time judging. Don't enjoy their job. How do you expect to get clear-minded people? These are people who have a mixture of past / present / future in their heads. So when pokemon starts recalling past successes, and starts bringing them future financial potential, instead of remaining reasonable, they lose their minds. Because they are not balanced people, they give in to all their animal impulses. No control. Excess. And being able to spend 20K on Pokemon doesn't protect you from madness. Quite the contrary. This is the true justice of our world. You can have 1 billion in your bank account, or 0, you can spend eternity in fire

Here's my hot take: WE(the collectors, investors, dealers, players), are to blame for the short print run of Prismatic Evolutions. NOT The Pokemon Company. WHY? Because the MAJORITY of US disliked the crowns on our precious Pokemon. The sentiment was vastly NEGATIVE and at best INDIFFERENT. Those who liked the crowns were FEW and FAR between. ***I don't hear anyone dogging on the crowns now!!!*** I bet TPC saw that negativity. And got shook. So they took it to heart and short printed the 1st wave of PE. Once production started and their numbers were finalized...It was TOO LATE to adjust. Pokemon was losing it until the short printing happens made it strong again and bring people back to pokemon again. what makes pokemon hobby alive again is that someone may make some money out of it, once they overprint, they leave. Keeping the demand high/ Supply less than demand is the only way to keep the Pokemon buyers otherwise see most of them leaving again only to come back when too late.

No. If they gave everyone what they actually ordered it would all be sold at massive losses and stores/distributors would risk bankruptcy. And also, almost no e would want it anymore. If they just keep printing it, they just keep making money. And with the pull rates as they are you KNOW people will keep on buying it and opening product to chase those cards they want. I understand the hype factor, but considering in Japan they continue to print the equivalent sets of the english ones CONSTANTLY, it makes 0 sense what they're doing here to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not someone who understand business in-and-out. But I can at least understand that continuously making something people want is a constantly inward flow of cash for you, whereas the secondary market makes them NOTHING.

I think pokémon is a very smart company but i also think the worst thing they could do is try to compete with itself

Maybe if Pokemon Co. released fewer sets per year, they could print more of the sets people really want...

Pokemon will raise msrp prices. This is exactly what Topps did.

I never thought about the sports card side of it, i sell both, and youre right. The difference is no one complains about prices like they do on the pokemon side.

151 was so scarce in the UK, but nothing compared to Prismatic.

Given the demand, I’m shocked they didn’t print this to the ground. They knew it was going to be high demand. Why do they want the secondary market to be high? The Pokémon company sells them for the same price and makes the same money regardless of the secondary market.

I think everyone is underestimating the popularity of pokemon including the Pokemon company itself. I doubt they would go out of their way to way to print less then what they normally would print in a year. In 2023 they supposedly printed 11 billion cards… You think the next year they would only print 5 billion cards or would they go up? I’m gonna assume they printing to the max to maximize profits.

Hell, looks like they’re short printing all this stuff so much they may as well start including serialised cards 😂

What if Pokémon manipulates the market by printing almost nothing of Prismatic and then overprinting Journey Together? Stores are gonna order a lot more for Journey together cus they think they are only gonna get a percentage of that set like Prismatic Evolutions. And when that happens, Pokémon will give 100 % of the ordered product to the stores and make tons of money? Am i cooking or wrong here?!

It would be interesting if pokemon was doing this to try and cut out the distribution network and keep the profits in house.

There is plenty of blame to go around . Pokemon isn't providing what they should, distributors are botching the allocations of what little they get, and stores that are jacking up prices due to scarcity all get the amount of hate they deserve here. I can and will hold it against all of them.

I am very upset with The Pokémon company! I have collected Pokémon on & off since 1999 but I'm DONE ! This is the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen a company do to their customers! I think it's a disgrace!!! I am sickened by the greed of people!! That's all this is ; GREED of Pokémon company, GREED of the scalpers GREED OF ALL who are making this happen. I'm DONE unless they fix this by reprinting till it's coming out those greedy scummy people's ears!!! This will be the end of Pokémon!!!

Interesting move by Pokemon. I wonder if they're trying to drive demand knowing they'll print this set for 2 years straight? Or maybe they're preparing to increase MSRP? Kind of odd. This set was obviously going to be a high value set, it's not like the demand is a surprise.

Pokemon is to blame. They don't want anyone profiting. You buy it when they print and from Pokemon or not at all. They want all the profit.

If the god pack is real, were toast. Thats like pulling the top 8 most expensive cards from evolving skies all in 1 pack. People will go phyco and that pack will be worth thousands, even raw. People will be weighing their sticker and poster collections, maybe even etbs. It will be a chase like we have not seen in english modern in a while.

It's not a reprint it is a restock there is a difference and was confirmed by someone with distro access. It was from the same store that sold surging sparks for 190 on tcgplayer a bb not too long ago.
