Coolest thing found on the beaches. Well, this was not in Australia, but my family and I were headed south on the west coast of Florida (USA). I think we were fishing around Cedar Key. I found two, large, engine hatches along the shore that were made of teak. Apparently a water spout came through a few days prior and may have ripped them off and they floated to shore. I took them home. removed all the stainless hardware. Lacquered them up, reinstalled the stainless hardware, and then put some legs on them and made some really good looking lounge tables out of them.

I like your analysis of what caused the trans to fail! Like everything it has a engineered design limit. But the Chevy is still going but once again that 10 speed has it's limit. Even a 200 series will fry the clutch packs if you drive in the sand too long in the high range. F series are number 1 seller in the states for a reason! They are pretty strong and refined. We run a 2500 HD Chev but we know that the 10 speed is near its design limitations - bigger tyres etc put more load on the running gear any anything will break! Great video - love the big American truck review!

Hey mate, blew our 68RFE on Fraser back in Jan. Running 35's at 20psi, didnt bother with low range as the cummins makes it easy. Had all sorts of shifting issues heading back to the barge, limped it back to Sunny Coast and it was toast. G&L rebuilt and upgraded it, tuned also and turned it into a beast. I did the same, thought I'd get away with out upgrading and it bit me on the ass...

@@jamesdurham2590 sorry to hear mate 😩 I didn’t get any courtesy car offered to me so I had to go and buy another car to get me out of trouble. All I got was a free service from Ram 🤦♂️ There’s many reasons why the market is flooded with second hand Ram’s, funny enough it’s when the warranty runs out but the warranty as we both know is pretty useless anyway.

The 68 RFE is a crap gearbox. The 2025 is having a ZF 8 speed powerline, no upgrade will be needed. The Aisin gearbox had a lot of snap ring failures. RAM is ditching both the gearboxes for the powerline next model as well as only one engine, HO for both the 2500 and 3500.

So I have a 2013 Dodge Ram with the Cummins and the Aisin. I have had to replace 3 computers in it. They are junk. Good news is the drive train has been real robust. I did break a 4 wheel drive actuator in deep snow. Honestly I think like an old square body Chevrolet with 1 tons with a 2.8 liter Cummins crate motor would be ideal. No computers, all manual…. sipping diesel.
