I have always washed my hair every day in the shower. It works for me. I have been criticized for it, but everyone does what works for them. I have my routine, and my hair is past my waist shiny and healthy looking.

Same .I am 11 .I have my hair past my waist .I wash my hair every day.I use the Shea moisture Manila honey and yogurt shampoo and condiotioner and leave in.I use the Shea moisture extra moisture detangler.once a week I use the crisan (blue bottle) oil treatment and leave it for 2-3 hours before I wash it .I only put it in my mid lengths to ends.that’s it .my hair is super shiny and healthy.also I got hilights but then dyed it back brown .

it may work for you, and it may look all pretty and such. but trust me, Not allowing your hair to contain its natural oils can be very dangerous for the hair, which is why you shouldn't wash your hair for 2 to 3 days, (you can still take showers and wash your body and such) but just allowing the hair to get its oil can increase the growth by double.

Yeah, my sister and mother have long shiny hair and wash their hair every day. I used to as well but around my teens I suffered from an ED and my hair has been falling out. Now I’m trying everything I can from gummies, shampoos and conditioners, leave in treatments, oils, and not washing every day but nothing is working. 😣

@@Z357Y I'm 54. Been washing my hair everyday since I was a teenager. It's still super shiney and down to my waist. But then again, I don't blow dry, flat iron, use products including any kind of dry shampoo. All of that can dull your hair but not washing it everyday is kind of gross. Especially if you get regular excersise. That's really icky and smelly. I think this idea was made up by the people selling dry shampoo. Greasy hair is not cute. The only people who can get away with this are people with super curly hair.

Dermatologically, what people call "dry scalp" is usually dandruff, which is a mild case of seborrheic dermatitis (which is an irritation of the skin in reaction to sebum overload - because of the overgrowth of micro organisms that feed from the sebum). So it's actually a "greasy scalp" problem contrary to popular belief, it just "feels" dry because of the shedding of the skin due to inflammation... In long term it can cause the thinning of the hair for some sensitive people. And again, scientifically, there is no "feed back" between the surface of the skin and the cells under the surface that produce sebum, so there is no way you can make you hair produce more sebum by shampooing. It's a myth that do not have an actual scientific base. If you don't have prone to breakage or very dry hair, you can totally wash your hair everyday if you want. It's actually quite good for the scalp and for hair density.
@stefanienava
@stefanienava 3 жыл бұрын
I know this and you are absolutely correct. I get so annoyed with the amount of misinformation out there. I get dandruff if I skip one day of washing. I have excess sebum. Some people need to wash everyday. I explained this to a friend who had dandruff and was convinced not washing was the answer. I don't understand why so many hair stylists give people the wrong information.

I thought dry scalp and dandruff are two different things? Dandruff is for oily scalps and dry scalps are irritated dry scalps
@ASmith-jn7kf
@ASmith-jn7kf 3 жыл бұрын
1st of all, where did you learn this science?? Science should be based on observation. Maybe oil in the skin is like breastmilk that makes more based on how much of it you take it out. So to test this "scientifically" all you have to do is wash your hair everyday and see if your body produces more oil. I am certain you have done no experimenting yourself and have observed no scalps yet are passing this information around. Dermatitis and dry scalp is not the same things and your skin can be dry without dandruff so why can't a scalp?? And that should be easy to prove for yourself. But people like you do not know what real science is and just listen to the opinion of "experts" without any discrimination whatsoever. It's mind boggling.

@@ASmith-jn7kf Baby, just check at least the dermatological pages about how layers of the f****ing skin work, and what the different cells are, and what the stupid sebbaceous gland is and how it works, it's all in the f***ing internet for f***ing free. Skin isn't like the bottom of the ocean, we KNOW stuff, different cells on different layers (the top layer IS ONLY MADE OF DEAD CELLS) don't have a magical system of communication, they don't send emails to each other, okay ? It's not how the body work, it's not magic, it's not game of thrones okay ? F****k
@AMiniki
@AMiniki 2 жыл бұрын
@@ASmith-jn7kf I don’t know their source, but mine is my dermatologist… you know, one of those people who went to college for years and years, had to gain a medical degree and then specialise in dermatology, pass several exams and get a licence to practice… they told me this exact same thing. Also, oil production pretty much depends on hormones, that’s why teenagers tend to have acne that lessens with time and why you can barely see elderly people with acne. And how often you should wash your hair depends on so many things including environment, health, even if you take any medications or have an underlying medical issue. Washing your hair more or less won’t actually affect oil production that much if you have an hormonal imbalance or if you are using hard water for example (yeah, the water that you use can also be a reason for dermatological issues). Medical conditions can be huge reasons for hair changes, for example people with cancer or diabetes can have super dry hair and no amount of washing more or less will change that because it related to something else. What is actually absolutely mind boggling is that google is free and it seems that you already have internet access and free time, there are several sources out there that explain all this, you can check PubMed where there are so many medical articles available for free, peer reviewed and published even so is a trusted source. You can simply google “PubMed hair washing” and a ton of articles will show explaining that it actually didn’t show much of a difference washing hair daily vs not washing hair daily. And I found a few that mentioned that what actually showed a different was the shampoo formulation, but not really the washing regime. So, I would say… yeah, I would rather listen to this actual science based on real observation and several rounds of it under proper scientific conditions and properly reviewed by people who actually are experts.

However im back to everyday and i definitely shed less in the shower while being consistent,my hair does get fluffy tho but I think i prefer to have my scalp happy rather than my hair and smelling fresh 😃, yet i hate the air drying part and how tedious it can get.

I wash it everyday, i always did so. And it is ok. But from my own experience, do not use volume shampoo or plumping, products everyday. You can use hidrating shampoo, even if your have fine thin hair, if you wash it dayly, or repair shampoos, anti freez,or anti fall, but those anti fall shampoo can dry the hair......... so are not really for everyday. Also if you start washing it dayly, you don't have to shampoo twice.

I’m on day three with washing it every day and I hate it. My hair is so dry. It feels like a horse tail, even with hair oil in it. I usually go 7 to 14 days without washing it, but I also use bamboo combs and brushes in my scalp to break up sebum lavender and peppermint for my scalp to help stimulate or anything. I don’t really have it so I don’t think I’m sticking to the wash every day.

It needs to be moisturized more, frizz - dryness. OR you may actually have wavy or even curly hair(many people start developing curl only when hair gets longer), maybe you could try the curly girl method and see if your hair is actually textured

It's really nice and different type of video...but Karen I somewhere read that if you wash your hair every single day you will strip your scalp's natural oils so to compensate that your scalp tends to produce more oil in order to prevent excessive dryness...I think that's the reason why your scalp doesn't face dryness.... it's only my opinion from what I read and heard....but really I love your videos and you specially your hair....

That's not the only case it's also controlled by our skin and scalp's ph level....if it's not ideally balanced then it's either tend to get oily or dry...and it's a dermatologist's saying...in my case I have extremely dry skin...but my scalp is somewhat normal to oily not totally oily but normal u can say and once I saw a dermatologist for having some skin issues....he said that ph level imbalance can cause the dryness or the oily ness of our skin..also ph level can be imbalanced by many conditions and yes hormones are one of the causes but for me it's my allergies and asthma problem....I hope I didn't offend you but I just told you what my dermatologist said to me...
