Going to clarify something on the chance that it wasn't clear. My unit charges at a sustained 3W without games running. In the video, you have displayed the charge rate at well above 3W without a game running. It's only when the game IS running that it drops to around 3 and as everyone else has pointed out, that's as intended to help reduce battery degradation. It's pretty good. I have the GO, the Ally, and the Deck. I need a little more time with the GO, but as of right now I'm pretty sure my daily driver will be the Ally. The ergonomics when you first pick up the GO feel good, but the button placement is very strange so I have to hold my hands in weird positions to avoid hitting buttons accidentally. I disabled the button that sits under the right palm, but you cannot disable M1 which is on the right side of the right controller and acts as R1... so I'm constantly accidentally pressing R1. The screen is very big, but it's actually too big. If you drop the resolution to 800p, it looks like crap on the super high reso screen, but when you bump up the resolution, it really struggles to get above 20-30 fps. I've been playing Lies of P, Elden Ring, Destiny 2, cyberpunk 2077, and baldurs gate 3. Along with less demanding games like blasphemous 2 and gravity circuit. The fps (shooter mouse) mode is very cool, but I keep trying to think when it'll actually be useful considering I use handhelds when I'm on the go, not sitting at a desk. So... I'm sure the performance issues might be fixed with some updates and drivers, but the ergonomics are very bad and the FPS mode is just a gimmick that's kinda interesting

Honestly, using SteamOS over just a plain install of arch would be a bad idea as it would be like installing Android on an iPhone, sure it'll work but it's gonna have a lot of compatibility issues. Mainly button mapping, driver support and a few other things. Performance isn't magically going to improve under Linux either, you may have better battery usage but when a device like this is designed for windows it's best to just use it on windows. Coming from a Linux user btw.

I've seen a video of a guy trying ChimeraOS on it and I was impressed, it wasn't bad but it wasn't perfect either, the attacheable controllers worked but the extra buttons didn't and clicking didn't work as well, he also tried BazziteOS in another video and same results. You can give it a try but don't expect it to be flawless

Cool review. As someone who enjoys gamming, and as a tech especialist, it’s incredible for me to see how efficcient these litle devices had become, to be able to run PC games on such a device. With my 1998 computer, 3D games would barely run on it, ansd nowadays we can run realistic looking games in our handheld using less than 1 tenth of the energy we needed 20 years ago. I just think Windows is the only thing holding back these devices. Linux is the way to go for better battery’s management.

I have Lenovo Legion Go 1tb, and a Steam Deck OLED 516gb, they both are good imo. I love the "easiness" of the steam deck, you just turn it on, and install games and you're set, the screen is amazing. the legion go is a little more complicated to set up but its that bad at all, just a few extra steps to bet set up. I've noticed I've been playing a lot on the legion go more then the steam deck, the only complain i have is battery life on the legion go, i get like an hour of battery until i have to plug it in, I've played a lot of newer games and at higher resolution, expect one game I have to play on low resolution (MK1) i love both my handhelds lol

What software are you using to monitor cpu temperature? For some reason when I install msi afterburner it acts like there is no sensor to monitor it. The only cpu temp indicator I get is from the integrated legion space hud but I think the cpu temp monitor is broken because it never fluctuates. It gets stuck on one temp, it only ticks up in weird intervals of 53c, 60c, 68c, and it'll stay stuck reading a high temp even after I'm done gaming and it goes back to idle in desktop.
@TakiUdon11 ай бұрын
Rivatuner has an overlay feature that you can enable to make your own overlay like I have. It pulls data from MSI and HWinfo.
@Orain8811 ай бұрын
@@TakiUdon ah, so HWinfo can detect the cpu temp? When I looked around in the MSI monitoring settings, it only offered cpu usage as an option. Oh, one little warning about this device. I almost cooked mine using the little charge slot they have on the case. I'd put the device in sleep, closed the case and plugged it in to charge, I came back 40 min later and the case was warm and I opened it to find it was idling on desktop with the screen on the whole time and the whole device was hot to the touch. I'm never charging it in the case unless I do a full shutdown first. If I'd left it like that overnight I think it'd be dead. I'm worried I may have already damaged the battery.

Something else mine showed with, that was a problem. I set it to my time zone/region, it even showed it on the map properly; however, it was 14 hours ahead. I didn't see this until the second day...couldn't believe I missed that. Turned it to manual setting and then turned auto back on and it reset. So keep an eye out for that. I actually timed mine charging from 54% to 100% and it took 18 minutes. I think you may have a defective unit. I also retested custom TDP and that also worked perfectly. I am wondering whatever is causing these issues for you are also causing the crashes you are having. I already posted about this, but wanted to go and do an actual timed test and make a separate post. I'm sorry you are having these issues. I've had a much smoother experience. I have had the controllers sleep on me twice. I will say that was after not using them for quite sometime, but it dies suck that I have to reconnect to wake them up. I am wondering if I am just missing something. If not, this should be any easy fix with an update.

Love the content. I hope your next video would include this comparison. VRR vs Legion Go without VRR. Tons of people say without VRR it’s a bit disappointing or it’s totally different but HOW different, there is never a video showing. Some people even mixed up with low FPS must have VRR to avoid screen tearing but VRR does not help in low FPS, it only helps in fluctuating FPS. Even if it’s low FPS at 40, as long as the screen supports at that Hz with vsync on, it should not have tearing. So I am really interested in some videos about games in different settings on both Ally and Go to see if there is any difference when one has VRR and not the other.

@@KyleRBean I don't have an Ally, I only have an Aokzoe A1 Pro and it doesn't have a VRR. I have seen screen tearing but I can fix them by using different combinations of FSR + TDP + graphics settings to get rid of it. I mean some people may be more sensitive to screen tearing but so far I have only seen a lot of people talking about how important it is but never seen a video about the difference.

I love your channel and your reviews , but truly you need more time with the device . I own Ayaneo air , air pro , air plus , geek , Ayaneo 2 , one xplayer , steam deck , rog ally , and I can tell you this device has a gorgeous display where you can’t tell it doesn’t or doesn’t have VRR , second the faster clocked ram does make a huge different yes we are saying only 6 to 8 frames per second , but frame times are way better at 15 to 20 watts compared to the ally . Fire up Overwatch 2 , or any COD and look at the frame time . On the ally there is frame time issues and spikes . Also worth nothing the temps are far the best handheld I have used this year . I would revisit the review with far more testing maybe with a different unit because manual TDP works flawless for me .

I took back mine already, haven’t been this disappointed by a UMPC since the Win 3. This should have been passable at launch, instead it’s a disaster of a product and no, I don’t care if it gets “fixed” in six months. Even if the software is improved the controllers still suck.
