What is fun about your reactions is that you're discovering these performances without context and getting to know about it. Most of these performances are done as homage. Someone who doesn't have the context (i.e., Korean fans) they can be a bit confusing. The song was written by JYP and was a groundbreaking hit back when it came out. It was considered very risque at the time. It was doubly shocking that the singer, Park Ji-Yoon (currently married to the founder of Kakao -- yup, a billionaire) had a very young & innocent image before this track. The song has been covered countless times through different generations of Kpop idols and singers. What's cool is that male idols quite often cover it, sometimes in full female get up.

Yes, we clearly see the difference in Jimin and Jungkook dancing styles here, but that's not all - during all rehearsals you can see Jimin marking the movements, which means that you learn the sequence and directions but conserve your energy; professionally trained dancers do that a lot. Jk, on the other hand, goes all out , hence the sharper movements etc. On the downside, this exhausts a person much faster and Jk has been lovingly scolded by the members for it on several occasions (f.e.by Hobi Hobi during one of the big tours, we saw the moment in a documentary)

Hoseok taught Jin's movements, who also had to dance separately. And the dance of Jimin and Jungkook is like a tribute to Jungkook's steps into adulthood. (The managers at Big Hit are steadfast, and they calmly film the guys on video. :))

When you googled the song to understand the context and read it out loud I almost spit the water I was drinking 😂😂😂. I mean, it's not wrong but the lyrics are not so straightforward. The song is from a female singer, Park Ji Yoon and was a huge hit a long time ago. Part of the fun is seeing you react without the warning. I was lost the first time I watched this and also had to google, haha. It's so interesting how they go all in, how Jimin did the dance along with Jungkook, with the rehearsal and performance, the bit of MJ flair and it's all a joke because JK came of age. The song is addictive and so are JK and Jimin's moves. They do some of the original moves but make this dance suit them so much better with the Michael Jackson moves in the second part. JK was coming of age (20 Korean age). It is so damn sexy that I doubt they thought of it as funny. You need to see videos of JK, Hobi and Jimin doing girls dance routines. They are sooo good at them. They need to do this again for JK's 25th.

As others have already mentioned below Jimin was simply marking. If you watch the actual performance Jimin's dancing is so different than the practice. He's definitely smoother in general (reminds me of MJ in this performance b/c of how he connects his movements); however, both obviously do a great job.

Neither was I prepared. I'm a plant manager and I start at 05:00 in the a.m. As I did my usual stroll, turning on all equipment and breakers and so on...I got this notification. I had to sit and watch it! I thought, what's 5 minutes. It turned into 15! My usual stroll turned into a jog through the factory.😬😬😬 That's how much I enjoyed this! "ya" means "hey" and it is used in a same yet different way as "hey" in english or western languages. Ill explain: It can be in surprise, empörung (for lack of a good english translation of the dutch word "verontwaardiging") , disbelief, etc or to catch a younger persons attention/to call them out (i think to older people it can be considered a bit rude?). It is never used as a greating tho, whereas "hey" can be synonymous to "hi"; a casual greeting in korean would be "anyeong". Yes it’s a very common utterance and highly versatile. Anything from “hey you” to “wow” to “man!” to “listen here” etc. And to say it towards an older person or a stranger is not just a bit rude, but it is highly disrespectful! It will get you a scolding or even a fight if said to the wrong person. Basically like “hey, YOU!” but ruder. But just saying it as an utterance is different than addressing someone with it, so you can still say it around an older person as long as it’s not used to call out to that person, if that makes sense.

So, if I recall correctly, this is a performance Jikook did for either a House Party or Festa concert. My understanding is that JK asked Jimin to do this with him as a favor to celebrate his coming of age. (But I could be wrong.) And the first half of the choreo is actually from the official MV of the song by Park Ji Yoon. hi!! just so u know, bighit only started to add english subtitles in the content posted on bangtantv in early 2020 if i remember correctly, so for videos prior to that date u may want to watch the videos on the bangtan subs channel! or just type the title of the video u want to watch + eng sub, i think all the content has been translated by fans so u shouldn't have to much trouble to find what u need ^^

I love how jimin is acting like he’s so shy and can barely do the dance in the practice room and rehearsal when we know how he dances lol jks just like fully in it lol jks a natural performer and is like let’s get to work lol jimin is internally like let’s get to work but pretending to be shy 😂 such a fun jikook vodeo… they dance so well together even tho they’re so different. At this point it was just them and Jhope as the dance line and I recently heard a professional dancer talking about bts and watching the 3j dance practice and he was taking bout how hobi and jimin are Polar opposite in dance style…theyre on opposite sides of the spectrum… and if you took the two of them and smashed them together… then you would have jungkooks dance style. And now I’ve heard so many people say that and that makes perfect sense IMO… especially when you know that jungkook by far had way less training than they did… hobi had like 10 years of dance more than jk and I think jimin had like 6-7 years of dance experience as opposed to jk who didn’t have a ton of dance experience until bts… and jungkook tends to learn from those around him without even realizing where it’s coming from… so if it was just the 3 of them working together as a unit and there’s older choreo videos with just the 3 of them dancing as well… then jk picking up little boys of both of them makes a whole lot of sense. I love watching them all dance… they’re all such strong dancers in different ways… love the variety!!!

Love this video - so fun to see normally super professional, unflappable Jimin looking embarrassed and slightly flustered, while Jungkook (who I believe was the one who wanted to perform this choreo?) is so chill and laidback about it, just owning every movement. Jimin is totally a professional, and on stage he owns every movement, but I feel like this shows more of their "default" personas, where JK has grown from that shy kid into a relaxed young man who owns himself and his body image so fully - he's not "shameless", but he's just completely at home in his own physicality.

This song is haunting. It never gets old no matter how many times I've heard it. The dance in all it's myriad forms is always enthralling.
