I remember it blew my mind that some ppl actually take it literally when people say sold my soul 😅 It’s just a common saying to say you gave your life for something. You wanted something so bad you were willing to sacrifice normal life to get it. In his sense it means the fame is so intense he can’t just be himself & make mistakes, go out etc like normal ppl

Many people miss the contrast between Joyner at the start of the song talking about "Being hungry with an empty plate and he wants a Grammy but will probably never get it". Then, Em comes in and talks about, "Being full, licking his plate clean, and having Grammy's that he sold his soul to get". 2:30 Eminem has another song I forget the name, Maybe Venom. It talks about exactly what you just said here and how the Grammy's invite and nominate many powerful and known singers to feed off of them like a parasite and give the Grammy to someone no one has ever heard of that possibly didn't even write his own song.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s Tupac and biggie were both equally the greatest of their time. But after they died Eminem swooped in and became the one and only GOAT. And I watched the 3 peat Champions Chicago bulls with Scotty pipen and Horace grant. Micheal Jordan was the GOAT. He carried that team on his back while air walking to the hole.

Remember "The way I am" video you reacted to...EM says "he's pigeoned holed into some poppy sensation, to cop me a rotation at rock and roll stations " bc he said the radio"won't even play my jam". He couldn't make the music he wanted to bc of his record deal so he felt trapped back when he won his Grammys in 2000 and 2002. Not to mention he became an addict as his career took off. He's definetly paid a price for fame. Part of why he sold his sole. Tack on all the Gangsta beef they were constantly in. Fighting Censorship, Secret Service went to his house, constantly getting sued, family drama. He was a hot azz mess back then 💯😂 You asked so thought I would reply lol.
