Gosh - from leaving the polar scope cap on while polar aligning at dusk or setting up with trees in the way or leaving bahtinov mask on or forgetting to turn on dew heater or setting handheld date to the year 2000 or ... so many opportunities to be dumb, I've done them all.

Boy, can I relate! A few weeks ago, I needed to move hardware from a move sturdy rig to my simple MSM guider with different power, tripod etc. This took longer than it should have. Clear skies. I to alignment more effort than expected. Finally got it going. 20 minutes into imaging the clouds rolled in for the night (Clear Outside) let me down. Threw a bag over everything figuring I'd just find my target following night. Up next morning, and everything was laying on the ground "discombobulated" all had become untightened at best. I think a Squirrel climbed it, and knocked it over. Haven't had the ambition ot heart or weather to see if everything is OK. BUMBED :(

Oh, mate! That sucks. Seeing my rig discombobulated breaks my heart. No doubt it would have been a sad site! Is everything still working?

@tradde11 Not really. Top of rig over 60 inches high, tripod base spread narrower than ideal. Squirrels here easy 5 pounds.and with Rokinon 135 hanging out, well you have idea. Proved one common complaint about this lens, the hood broke, and a replacement doesn't seem available. Oh. Knocked MY Astronomik HA filter loose. Maybe more, like I said didn't have desire to check everything else.

Very interesting I have had the same frustrations at times. Like you by the time you get things sorted out the clouds come in and shut you down. LOL Good luck going forward.

Haha. Yes its such a pain when that happens! I couldn't believe it was just the clock settings...

As we say in IT ... EBKBAC ... error between keyboard and chair ;-) glad it was easily sorted, but still very frustrating!

Haha. Yeah that's pretty much it. Took me a while to sort it out. Sometimes I wish machines could say "look here you idiot" 😂

Yesterday was a crystal clear night, everything was going fine .....and Alas!!! My 150 minutes data didn't reveal much because of a wrong ISO setting.. What a waste of efforts... frustrating indeed!

We've all had those nights the first time I ran NINA to image everything worked perfectly & I couldn't be happier, the second time well lets just say I were having a nightmare & what made things worse when I were trying to connect to the mini pc remotely it kept booting me off so I went old school plugged everything into the laptop aaaaand that didn't want to know either, so I gave up & went to bed lol.

Haha good story! It just shows how temperamental these things can be. It was good idea to go to bed! For me it was either going to bed or crying in the corner somewhere! Sometimes giving up is the best idea!

Rushed out to set up the gear today, forecast said clouds but it looked very clear. I set everything up and then clouds, I waited and it cleared up again. Polar alignment took lots of time and other software issues and the clouds were back :(

I can feel your pain. That sucks. Did you manage to get anything? A single image :D? What were you targeting?

@@AstroOnbudget Not a single image :( my thought was to image more of the heart nebula I managed to get 25 min on 2 weeks ago. But when clear nights are so few I'm thinking of going for a target I haven't imaged before next time, the california nebula.

I hear a lot off nightmares about windows 11, it reminds me about windows vista, had to buy another printer cause old 1 didn't work and astronomies' are staying away from windows 11. got to remember the date and time, thanks for the tip

Yes, there are still a few things that needs to be ironed out in Windows 11. That said, what I did was my foolishness :D nothing to do with windows 11

Very cool. I remember one night I setup, everything was Going well. Then suddenly. An annoying windows Update! It took around an Hour for some Reason, lol!
