This was press propaganda about how modern 'journalists' are so noble and brave.

Except it craps on journalists in multiple subtle ways. I mentioned that in the video as well - it's not explicit, but it's there.

This also happened just a few years ago when people read deep meaning into a movie called The Hunt, which was a grindhouse B movie that made some mostly milquetoast stabs at political satire. I liked that movie mostly because the lead, red state female character was really busty, like way more than any actress in contemporary Hollywood. The right went into a panic about how it was normalizing political violence against conservatives, despite the fact that all the satire in the movie stabbed leftward.

i watched it in the theatres with my friend we were planning to watch a Japanese movie instead but turns out he is dyslexic and can't read subtitles. keep in mind we are not native English speakers but in this region we are so westernised we would rather watch non English movies in English and pretend we are American and forgot how we learned English. anyway most movies in the theatres were ofcourse based on the same old stuff like ghostbusters or fast and furious so i picked civil war .i thought the movie was meh not bad but not worth the cost of the ticket my friend thought it was the worst move ever. it reminds me of some random 2000s zombie movies that i used to rent or watch on tv but instead of zombies you only got bad people to worry about. seems like they really went out of their way to avoid angering people with the story by making everything vague. i think many people like my friend expected war movie from a soldiers perspective or just random civilians. but making a movie about the press seems kind of random its not a bad idea just really random i think they did this because its probably what the move directors see themselves doing during a civil war .if the movie was made by electricians it would probably be about an electrician trying to fix stuff during the battles.

A remake of Soylent Green is being released in December of this year (2024).

Wonder if they will be able to keep the original story, or if they ruin it to push a political point.

I watched Civil War. It was okay, but not special. I find the fact that Alex Garland wrote and directed this film to be interesting, as Garland also directed the 2012 cult classic Dredd (the second Judge Dredd film adaptation). In 2016, there was a Judge Dredd "mega epic" called Every Empire Falls/The Blood of Emeralds, which featured a similar, yet far superior story about foreign collusion and subversion. Funnily enough, the trailers for Civil War also used the tagline "Every Empire Falls". As for the Texas/California team-up, remember that Texas is slowly turning into a blue state due to immigration, internal migration, and white middle class Democrat flight from the places they voted into being hell holes. Also, Garland and the suits didn't want to alienate audiences with pronounced political view on both wings of the political aisle.

> Texas is slowly turning into a blue state due to immigration I've been hearing this since 1992 when I first had access to American politics. TX is redder now than in 1992. Also TX has been blue before. I'm not saying it can't happen again, but I am saying that demoralizing panic porn is not a good strategy /shrug.

@@FreedomAlternative I stand corrected. I would be interested on your thoughts about the overall political situation in Arizona.

@@blitzerblazinoah6838 I haven't followed in enough detail. Kari Lake brought the whole circus there after she lost the gubernatorial election. Which is unfortunate because she could've had a positive influence on state politics. I kinda lost interest after that. In politics you win some, you lose some. But perpetual whining is simply not an option. See Hillary Clinton for example. For some reason some Republicans think the same rule doesn't apply to them /shrug.

He did the script (with another two) for Dredd, he did not direct it.

Is it an American movie tho? It's made by a Brit.

The producing studio is headquartered in Manhattan, made with American $$. The director is British, but 5 of the 7 main characters are American actors. It's an American movie.
