Ok but it's not truthful to deny that they made Harry and Ron way more useless here than they were originally written as. Harry still was a better fighter than nearly everyone, including Hermione, and was getting advanced magic that no wizard his age was expected to. He also carried the entertainment value with his sass. Ron was bad at magic initially, until he got hinself an actual chosen wand instead of a hand-me down he was powerful, and he held the friend group together with his wit since Hermione and Harry never got along well and rarely spoke without him. Several ideas that saved the day, even several direct quotes from the book, that were made by Harry and Ron were given to Hermione, while she also kept everything she was already supposed to do in the book, while also adding "nerd becomes pretty girl when made over" trope. As much as he misses from the movie, he's completely right about them making Hermione the main hero. It's not just that Harry needs help, it's that nobody needs help from Harry, and that negates how special their friend group was when they all had something to contribute.

@@oougahersharr I understand this. I'm not saying that they should have done the polar opposite and turned Harry in James Bond, I'm saying that Billy's critique of Harry isn't unfounded even when you take that into account. Yes, the point of the stories was to play around with the "chosen one" trope. Yes, the books had a huge factor of "nobody does it alone" just like the movies. But in the books, Harry and Ron contribute far far more than the movies. Instead of "nobody does it alone" it's more like "Harry and Ron can't do anything alone or not, but Hermione can do it all singlehandedly." Evidenced by the fact the character traits unique to the other two are given to Hermione, and the times Hermione needs help in the books was turned into the other guys needing help from Hermione in the movie. I'm saying they could afford to be and really should've been more nuanced. Harry is not the only hero nor can he save the world by himself, but he _should be_ 1 of 3 heroes who equally save the world together.

The screenwriter admitted his favorite character in the books was "Heather" so a lot of ideas/lines that were originally Ron's and/or Harry's in the books became hers instead. This does make it seem like she is more the hero in the films. It is not as much so in the books, although she is extremely book smart. Harry is much better in the books, Ron too, although I still enjoy the films they really don't capture the main character well. In fact, Harry was quite talented in certain magical areas especially for a child who grew up without any idea that magic existed. Characters like Neville, Ron, and Malfoy grew up in the wizarding world, already exposed to magic. Harry was not only lived outside of that world but was raised to believe he was nothing, growing up in an abusive home. A lot of the trauma feels as if it is missing in the films.

Fun fact: Alan Rickman, the man that plays Severus Snape, deliberately delivered his lines that way. He once said in an interview that because he didn't have many lines he wanted to take as long as he could on them. That, and his own voice and mannerisms when it comes to speaking are very similar to how he portrayed Snape. He also said that for his character he really created bits and pieces of background for himself, secrets he told no one about. Having those in mind make you speak, walk and act in a different way. Basically he just transferred himself into this character and he said that that's one of the reasons he finds the Snape discussion of whether he is good or bad that fun. He has an idea himself, which he refuses to speak out so that the fans can determine for themselves. To me Snape is a good guy, but I also know some people who think he is a bad guy. So for clarification, in the forest scene where the Death Eaters are wondering if Harry is really dead and Malfoy’s mother goes up to check and she reports that he’s dead, she knows he’s not. She asked him then if her son is alive and Harry nodded slightly. That’s why you said that you thought you saw him move. It’s because he purposefully did move. When she reported that he was dead, that is the moment she decided to turn her back on Voldemort. She doesn’t care about Voldemort and his winning this war. The only thing she cares about is her son and wanting to leave with him alive.

Maybe my least favourite single change from book to movie is Hermione coming up with using the dragon to get out of Gringotts vs Harry doing it (which he did in the books) because it’s probably the best indicator of what they do through the entire series of movies. In the books, Hermione is good at planning and preparing where Harry isn’t, while Harry is good at thinking on his feet and adapting when Hermione isn’t. But they end up either cutting moments of Harry being smart and capable or, worse, keep them but have a different character (usually Hermione or Luna) do them. This is the ultimate example of a moment where Harry is meant to be good at something but it’s done by Hermione in the movies, who is specifically not very good at it; the end result being that Hermione is the only useful character while Harry and Ron are both pretty useless.

The next series is a prequel - 'Fantastic Beasts'. It takes place in the past and the main character is Newt Scamander, a former student of Prof. Dumbledore (who is a teacher at Hogwarts) whose specialty is magical beasts (A subject that Hagrid would later become a expert in). The villain is the dark wizard Grindelwald, who was Dumbledore's partner before the two had a falling out after Dumbledore's sister Arianna's death. We get a young Prof. Dumbledore in later Fantastic Beasts movies. We also see the wizarding world in America, that is different from the UK...

The way i see it, Snape is not a nice guy but he's defintily a good guy, if you get what i mean? Snape loved Harry because he was the son of the love of his life and everytime he looked at him, he saw Lily's eyes but he also resented Harry because he was James son, who made his life hell. So he couldn't really bring himself to be nice to Harry but he still wanted to protect him because in the end, he was still Lily's son. He turned his back on the dark side (death-eaters) and became part of the Order of the Phoenix shortly before Lily died in order to protect her and when she died, he extended that protection onto Harry. Wether you like him or not, Snape never did anything evil to Harry. Sure he wasn't very loving with him but that's exactly why i said he's good but not nice. Also notice how in that scene where Snape is forced to fight Professor McGonagall, he only defends himself against her but doesn't use any spells to fire back at her. Instead he actually deflects her spells onto the Death eaters behind him. He never wanted to fight, nor hurt her. In the end, Snape sacrificed himself for the greater good and the fact that Harry actually named his son after him is proof enough that Snape was good.

Something that I find so interesting about this series is the fact that Harry has always been saved by a mother’s love. Rowling (as much as I don’t agree with her views) made a point to name the three women that saved Harry after flowers. Lily Potter, Petunia Dursley, and Narcissa Malfoy. Lily saved Harry because she loved him, Petunia saved Harry because she loved her sister, and Narcissa saved Harry because she loved her son. All three of those women went to great lengths and in different ways sacrificed themselves for Harry. Harry wouldn’t have made it without all three of these women. It’s so poetic and one of my favorite aspects of this series!

For this series though he definitely talked over details then asked questions about stuff already answered that he talked over quite often. My main gripe is that he made A LOT of the same comments repeatedly. Wishing for character deaths, complaining about everyone except Hermoine, etc. Before even watching the commentary videos I literally knew exactly what he was going to be complaining non-stop about. It went from him seemingly enjoying the series to watching him drag himself through it. Watching someone be incredibly miserable watching something is not enjoyable at all. The whole point of the story is that Harry is just a regular boy, born at the wrong time. That is only reason he is "The chosen one", not because of his abilities. Yes he is talented, but only slightly above average with affinity for Defence against dark magic. He would never stand a chance against Voldemort in a duel, not even a half a minute. Whole castle could'nt stand a chance against him. That's how strong and feared he was. He was duelling 3 strong wizards at the same time and winning (Mcgonagal, Kingsley and Slughorn). Hermione, Ginny and Luna were duelling Bellatrix and loosing. Everything is so much better explained in the books. "The power Dark Lord doesn't know about" is love. As cliche as it sounds it was actually brilliant. Lilly's sacrifice for Harry triggered ancient magic and Harry was protected because of that until he was 17 in Privet's drive. Voldemort could not touch him as long as he lived under the roof that have his mother's blood, which is aunt Petunia and calls it home. That is why he had to go back "home" every year and Petunia knew that. Voldemort's underestimation of love made him take Harry's blood to be able to touch and kill him, but he did not realise that because of that he was uncapable to kill Harry. His mother's sacrifice lasted even when the home protection ended in Harry's blood. They both shared sacrifice. He made it that until he lives Harry lives. He just killed part of himself. At the end he was killed by just a regular boy with no extraordinary powers and he died like a human. Or even better, he alone killed himself as his curse bounced back at him without hurting Harry. He did not disintegrated like in the movie. For me that is the best part, and message. And Dumbledore planned that from the moment he heard that he took Harry's blood in book 4. I hope you liked the story, I loved to watch your reactions. You made me laugh and thank you for that. ☺️ Best regards. 🤗

Few things you might have missed! (great vid as usual!) ¤ When you saw Voldemort 'kill' Harry, it was Narcissa Malfoy, Draco's mother, who went to check if he was still alive. She immediately saw that he was, and that's why she asked him if her son was alive. Since Harry was the one to save him, he nodded (yes, you did see him move!) and so Narcissa saved him in return by saying he was dead. Harry's always saved by a mother's love (Lily Potter, Molly Weasley and Narcissa Malfoy) ¤ During the last movie, when they were at Luna's place, Heather/Hermione told the story of the three brothers and how the three deathly hollows (invisibility cloak, resurrection stone, elder wand) made you the master of death. Well, Harry's got the three of them during this movie, but he broke the wand and left the stone in the forest. He just kept the cloak that he got from his father ¤ The prophecy of the 'chosen one' mentionned a boy born at the end of July 1980, whose parents tried to defeat Voldemort (so like the order of the phoenix). So, the chosen one could have been either Harry, born 31st of July, or Neville, born 30th of July. Neville was destined to greatness as well (i mean, he basically killed Voldemort) ¤ The 'Always' scene is one of the biggest plot twist ever! When you think about it, now so many things make sense! It was Snape who had the Griffyndor sword and put it in the lake for Harry. In that scene you can see the patronus of a doe, which was Lily's and Snape's patronus. ¤ Aberforth Dumbledore wasn't upset about being in his brother's shadow but about their sister's death. Dumbledore is famous for defeating Grindelwald (the grandest dark mage before Voldemort, their story is being developped in the Fantastic Beasts series), his longtime friend and rumored lover. One day, Aberforth, Albus and Grindelwald fought but Ariana Dumbledore was killed in the crossfire. She had very instable magic and Aberforth blamed his brother for not giving her 'time'.

Maybe if there are not too much episodes (like 6 of them?). I think it would give more lights to some things and some characters that are left behin in the movie, in an unfair way (one of the biggest example being : not explaining Neville could have been the "chosen one"). However, one thing with this stoy is that some of books has all the actions at the end and nothing in the middle, so it would probably implies some changes. However, I've said it before and I'll say it again : Fantastic Beasts should have veen a serie. They didn't have the times to spend on all the characters in the movie, to the point that in Crimes of Grindelwald I just stop caring about them.

I think a lot of us in the HP Fandom are so passionate about it, like you say, because we grew up with the books and the characters. So a lot of it is probably nostalgia for us. I was 8 years old when I read the first book the year it came out. And I was 11 years old, the same age as Harry, when the first movie was released. They basically released the next movie each year following so essentially, I grew up with Harry and the other characters. I was actually so emotional reading the last book at age 17 (right before graduating high school) and seeing the last movie at age 21. It was in a way like closing the chapter on my own childhood, if that makes sense? Harry did die. He had one of the Deathly Hallows on him, the one which allowed someone to be recalled from the dead, as told in the childrem's book from last movie, the very things Voldemort wanted. Dumbledore's "Don't tell me now you've grown to care for the boy" was meant to seem cold-hearted, but with the revelation that he had planned to put the Hallow in Harry's snitch, it turns into him questioning Snape for putting on such an uncaring act. Dumbledore planned his death out more than anyone knew, and that's the _entire point_ of the Bone Thugz and Harmony scene. Dumbledore was telling him now that one Horcrux had died with Harry, he had the choice to live again since he had the stone on him. The whole "I'm ready to die" thing to reveal the resurrection stone is that only someone not looking to cheat death deserved the power to, which prevented Voldemort from getting it should Harry fail.

In the books...Harry uses the Elder Wand to repair his Original broken wand and then returns the Elder Wand to Dumbledore's grave....Harry' original wand was very powerful with a perfect wielder like Harry himself...made of Holly (type of wood) and Phoenix feather as the core...Holly is one of the rarer kind of Wand Woods which is traditionally considered protective, it worked most happily for those who might need help overcoming a tendency to anger and impetuosity. At the same time, Holly wands often chose owners who were engaged in some dangerous and often spiritual quest... Holly was one of those woods that varied most dramatically in performance depending on the wand core, and it was a notoriously difficult wood to team with phoenix feather, as the wood's volatility conflicted strangely with the phoenix's detachment. In the unusual event of such a pairing finding its ideal match, however, nothing and nobody should stand in their way.

Ron's relationship with Hermione is perfect and I'll explain why! First of all, the movies ruined Ron's character terribly because they made him a bit of a jester to make something funny, Hermione gave a lot of her lines in the books in the movies and Ron looked cowardly, cocky and offensive, but he really was brave like no one else, he could keep calm when Harry and Hermione "lost their heads", he was super bright, and the wonderful thing about Ron's relationship with Hermione in the books was that whenever Hermione insulted or teased her, Ron would immediately defend her and be afraid of her. It was also nice that they both loved talking to each other on various topics, they could talk to each other for hours. Hermione loved Ron because he was the only one who wanted to and enjoyed talking / arguing with her for so long. They perfectly complement each other in their relationships in books. Overall, the story of their relationship is amazing :). Moreover, at many points when reading the books, you can read / notice that Hermione often irritated Harry with her behavior. But Harry's bond with Ron was strong, wonderful and lasting, they were like brothers to each other. In The Deathly Hallows Part 1, when Ron escaped (apart from being weak, wounded, wearing a Horcrux and worrying about his family all the time), Harry and Hermione hardly spoke to each other. Harry once mentioned to Ron (in the book) that Ron was the "glue" of their trio because Harry didn't have much contact with Hermione, and as I mentioned before, Hermione often irritated him. I want you to understand what it really looks like. Regards :)

It's crazy to think that the events of this WHOLE movie took place in a 24 hour period (obviously excluding the 19 years later part). From waking up in Shell Cottage to standing on the bridge when Harry breaks the wand, it was ONE day and they never slept. Insane. Also, that second "WOW" at Snape's reveal was hilariously intense. You said that with your whole chest! Hahaha

The morale of this reaction story is if Billy isn't feeling the first 2 movies, don't beg him to finish all 8, hoping he will change his mind 🤣🤣😅😅. I'm glad this is finally over.

Cracking up watching Billy tryna praise Hermione for being the true hero of the series while still disrespecting her by calling her the wrong name in every video. 😂😂😂 #heather #hermionegranger Also yes Snape “always” takes his sweet time talking. 😜

Snape loved harry's mom. his last words were look at me because harry has her eyes. Draco mom lied about him being dead because she asked about her son being alive

My older sister says she doesn’t like you because of the reasons you said, you make fandoms angry, making fun of every tiny thing, but as she said “his laugh is annoying.” But I find people that insult this channel funny. It’s not the youtuber’s fault that they like to get butt hurt. What I don’t understand though is how people don’t just accept that this is what this channel is. That this is who Billy is. Not to mention it’s a first time reaction, that’s what the video is. The reactor can watch the movie on their own time later. I find myself laughing at Billy’s jokes even if they go over important lines. Who knows, maybe I’m just built different. Love your content Billy. Keep being you❤️

So glad you finished the series and the twist of Snape being good and loving Lily, still got you in some way. Even as a dedicated HP fan I find it great to see new people enjoy it, even if they don’t love it the same way I do. But Billy, on a different note, I just noticed you have all white carpets and now I know you on a whole different level of brave or crazy because most would neverrrr.

I highly enjoyed your reactions to the series. The movies don't really do the books justice for many parts. Especially Goblet Of Fire. There was so many things they could have left in general, like explaining more about Neville and how he could have been the original Chosen One since he and Harry were born around the same time. Neville is such a good character in the books. I think you should watch the Harry Potter musicals sometime because they're hilarious and worth checking out.
