While it's obvious at some points this was supposed to be a series but it's honestly not as bad as people say. It's an entertaining movie at the very least

I think they tried to learn from trying this with Alantis the Lost Empire sequel movie cause that was going to be a tv series as well, but they changed it into a movie, and the movie flopped

@@alexisdogbo7958 I just hate the direction this movie will make the company go. The animators were rushed and on a time crunch, Moana is gonna probably just be turned into a more kid version of the MCU with how they teased another sequel. They didn't use the main team and used a cheaper smaller team for the movie and it paid off so rip to the main team ig because why would Disney pay big bucks for them when they can just use the cheaper team and people dont even care. I don't care if folks like the movie but like please understand the messy behind the scenes of the disney corporation

Moana 2 feels more episodic than its 2016 predecessor and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s absence is felt here. The new songwriters couldn’t quite capture the musical essence he left behind. But to be fair, I say the song “Beyond” is the TRUE showstopper and the equivalent to Lin’s “How Far I’ll Go.” It pays homage to him in that last line of the song.

38:54 - I've heard a lot of bad reviews like... From people of religions with beliefs that doesn't align with what is in Moana and left the theater halfway through calling it 'demonic'. From People who were comparing it to the first movie. (For me I preferred the music from the 1st movie when I watched in the theater, but I now have the songs from the 2nd in my playlist) And from people who left the theater without watching the end credits, saying that it was incomplete even tho the end credits is a teaser for a 3rd movie. For me personally, who is of similar culture represented in Moana (Maori), I just enjoyed it, love it to bits and had happy tears.

The ones that don't have American accents are from New Zealand because a lot of Polynesians live or are from there. As this movie is about Polynesian culture. As well as New Zealand being in Polynesia.

I watched it and I didn’t enjoy it that much if I’m being honest, I can see why people didn’t like it. It’s because the events basically felt like there was storytelling but with no real elements there. Like the villain was missing, they could’ve used that ponytail hair lady for the villain. Although the songs were not that bad, not the best but ‘you have to get lost’ was PRETTY GOOD!! It didn’t sound unique or anything but I catch myself singing it still. Anyways, it’s an alright movie for entertainment but for real storytelling or a SOLID continuation of the story, it’s a pass. Overall, I gave it a 2/5 , maybe 2.5 and I usually rate higher.

Its really not as awful as everyone saying it is, but I do wished it could’ve been better. I mean we have a disney princess turned demigoddess, you’d think they would’ve want this to be better than the first, she’s the first official disney princess that is now a demigoddess

Did this movie live up to its predecessor? No, it absolutely did not. It lacks the heart, depth, and overall charm that made the first movie so memorable. The characters feel flat, the plot uninspired, and the emotional resonance is nowhere near what it was. No amount of effort can make up for what was lost in this attempt to follow up on a beloved classic. Moana 2 unfortunately doesn’t capture the same magic as its predecessor. The sense of wonder, emotional weight, and strong character arcs that made Moana such a standout film feel absent in this sequel. While the animation remains stunning and the music is serviceable, the heart of the story seems diluted. The characters, once full of life and depth, now feel like shadows of their former selves, leaving little impact. The original Moana told a complete and meaningful story, giving its protagonist a satisfying arc that didn’t need to be revisited. A sequel feels unnecessary, especially when it fails to expand on Moana’s journey in a compelling way. Instead of feeling like a natural continuation, it comes across as a studio-driven decision rather than a story that genuinely needed to be told. When a sequel lacks the passion and depth of its predecessor, it only serves to remind us how great the original was.
