The Crow has a depth that is rarely seen in Graphic Novel adaptations. And that it accomplishes this so quickly is extraordinary. It touches upon themes of loss, grief, rage, justice, and an enduring transcendent love that overflows and is not just romantic. The world was made better for having had Shelly and Eric in it, and it is made worse for their loss. There is a pervasive sadness throughout the entire movie and, yet, it somehow manages to end in an uplifting note. The Crow 1994 is a masterpiece.
