There are tons of people that fill up the rec centres with basketball, not to mention how often I see folks play ball outside as well. Bring back basketball to Vancouver!!

Vancouvers got a population that boomed, theyve got a growing basketball fan base, they have an increasing amount of affluent residents, especially in the downtown core where a ton of people live and theyd have the entire West coast of Canada as a fan base. It was simply a franchise that needed to wait for the fans to come around. They didnt even give it 10 years. Pair that with the terrible chance the NBA gave it through the draft (never being able to pick 1st) and the terrible management and constant losing seasons that wouldnt attract fans and it ended up in Canada losing a team. Its sad because now with Vegas and seattle Vancouver and a franchise that failed already, they probably wont get another shot despite the massive potential. Just sucks, I personally think they were robbed.

The city was robbed, full on. You’re correct about that. However the NBA is aware of the past mistakes they’ve made and believe me, they see the massive appetite there is for the NBA in that city. That’s why with a plethora of other reasons I see Seattle and Vancouver as teams 31 & 32 in the league.

@@jaydurant3048 Hopefully youre right, but I think with the Raiders and Knights success along with Baseball looking to move there soon too and the insane amount of money Vegas has to offer I personally think its likely Vegas as an expansion if the NBA goes to expand. Along with those reasons, the massive money and focus sports gambling has been getting over the last few years and Lebron James seemingly having first dibs on an expansion and him saying he specifically wants to be a Las Vegas NBA team owner, I think its fairly locked. Whether seattle will get one is a bigger question to me than Vegas. Again, I really hope youre right. Vancouver deserves a team more than anyone imo.

Wish there was more than one team in real life. You want to make Basketball more important in Canada like Hockey, you need to have more than one club for people to cheer for. It won't happen in the intermediate future. But I'm just being hopeful and maybe one day, it will happen, not right now. VAN and MTL with the Rogers Arena and the Bell Centre, The CEBL Clubs, the Bandits and the Alliance are not attractive teams, they play in local recreation centers in the outskirts or somewhere in the city. Edit, I know there's some challenges like taxes and both cities are not attractive for Free Agents to sign like in Ontario.

French Canadians don't like basketball as much so I don't see Quebec or Montreal getting a team anytime soon. Much more of a native presence in Ontario too, they go hard as a mf in basketball so it'd be cool to see some homage in the Ottawa team name. With both Toronto and Ottawa being in Ontario, it'd set up a great rivalry but they could have an even better rivalry with Vancouver cus they could meet in the finals. Preferably both. If they did both, the Ontario teams could possibly fight it out in the conference finals and then face the Vancouver team in the finals, if the circumstances were perfect

@@rosshugecaulkbro what you saying. Basketball is a big thing in Montreal. Lu Dort Chris Boucher and Benn Mathurin all comes from Montreal. In each park theres a soccer field and a basketball court. In fact, hockey is less and less popular because theres less White french canadian cuz of immigration. Montreal is 4 millions people so MTL should get his chance before Vancouver and Vancouver already got his chance and missed badly

Wish there's more NBA Franchises north of the border. Both Vancouver and Montreal are realistic options when it comes to the size of the market. For MTL, the taxes are very high in the province, maybe some barriers with the Language, etc. But aside from that, the fanbase in that city are really passionate. Like what happen to the Habs, the NHL Team, and when they play preseason matches at the Bell Centre, I feel like they were more louder and passionate than the crowd at the Scotiabank Arena. Edit: I'm aware that both teams are not attractive markets, just like the Raptors.

The MAIN reason the team left here from feedback Arthur told my buddy is that the NBA wants all the corporate boxes in the teams arenas sold out. That is huge for the NBA. The fan support was here but the corporate support wasn't. Mind you the guy who purchased the team didn't attempt to make any go at keeping them here. He was hell bent on moving the team altogether. Arthur is in the process of trying to get an MLB team here. I'm told it's done. We are going to be getting the Arizona Diamondbacks or an expansion baseball team here real soon. If you want more details I can give to you but am being told just a matter of time we are getting MLB here.

Nash/Wade/Odom/Stojakovic/Martin is an insane,(but really fun) starting 5 in any era. In the 2000's/early 2010's, that team isn't big enough or good enough defensively on the interior. Post 2015, that team doesn't have enough wing defense to win.
