RIP to Yelena Shushunova. What a phenomenal gymnast. And so young when she passed. And also to your nail.🥺 Would you ever try Shushunova’s bars mount? (Not sure if it’s difficult or not, because I’m not a gymnast - it honestly all looks both effortless and insanely difficult to me which is why I love your videos of you showing how much hard work goes into the sport). Anyway, there’s one routine where she flies over the low bar to catch the high bar from 1988 Olympic ‘compulsories’. It looks really cool.

Thank you again, @Sophia, for another fun and interesting gymnastics skill breakdown. I noticed your off-hand comment about how much you love giants on the uneven high bar. As a former gymnast for 20-years myself, I fully agree...only on the men's high bar. I LOVED doing those! If I may suggest something, it might help your non-gymnast viewers to better understand what you mean by "my good hand" and "my bad hand", by defining how this is related to twisting moves. I am right-handed, but I've always twisted/tumbled/turned to the left in gymnastics. Many right-handed gymnasts twist/tumble/turn to the right. As an example, imagine doing a simple roundoff leading into a set of flip-flops. Which hand do you put down first? My left hand is first because I tumble left. This is my natural-feeling direction of twist, therefore, my "good hand" would be my left in this situation.

1985 World Championships...or perhaps the Alternate Games the Eastern Bloc held in Czechoslovakia in 1984 While the Western athletes competed at the 1984 Olympics in LA ...she took 3rd at the Alternate games tied with Maxi Gnauck of East Germany ...Olga Mostepanova won the Games and Hana Ricna took the Silver...Shushunova did the turning and the hecht back to catch the bar more above the bar rather than in the swing up as you are doing....J"aime la Gymnastique!!!

Hi Shushophia! Thanks to you, I’ve started thinking about writing a book. But now I’m wondering... do I have too many big ideas, or could it actually be revolutionary? It’s winter here, and it’s snowing. I really love it! How about you? Do you like snow? 😄😉😊❄⛄🥶

In Ancient Greek: τὴν γυμναστικὴν φιλῶ ποιεῖν (Lit "[the] gymnastics I love to do") γυμναστικός is the adjective the noun comes from, and means "fond of gymnastics". Aristotle used it with the article to mean "gymnastics master", so you would be ἡ γυμναστική, a female gymnastics master.
