How we treat our less fortunate ones, says a lot about who we are as a society, and so far, it doesn't look like it is saying anything good.

A society is comprised of individuals. A society that would demand the government take care of the less fortunate instead of themselves is a society in decay. "Be the change you want to see" isn't just a trite saying.

It's not the same thing though, as a person in homeless circumstances has no recourse at all and are economically at the end of ther rope in a state of desperation, whereas "going homeless" psychologically you know it will be over in 72 hours and you can go back home in a few days and hae money in the bank..etc.. so psychologically and of course social and economically it is much worse and can't be duplicated.

As a former homeless person. 72 hrs is kinda a joke. Thats barely enough time to even go hungry. Much less try filling out applications or trying to get a post office box without an address. You will quickly realize how much harder your "simple" existence becomes much harder. People who are homeless DO NOT want to be homeless. No matter how much drugs or mental illness takes over their lives.

Ya... i had a friend voluntarily go through a similar experience for a project. He went out for longer than 3 days but he came back and wrote an essay saying he fully immersed himself in the experience. He wrote as if he knew exactly how others feel. But the flaw in the experiment is that he knows he's one phone call away from being picked up but his parents. He slept outside knowing he could just walk back to his apartment. I understand that going out and staying outside or a duration is as close as most of us have ever gotten to homelessness. But it isn't the same.

I totally empathize with the plight of the homeless as I myself was at one point. I was very lucky and found chance opportunities. I do agree it does become strictly about survival. I was lucky enough to not have to deal with the extremes as at least I had a vehicle, so I don't truly consider that I've lived the same incredibly difficult life others have. When normies start to give looks, I also see that as a form of survival for them. I'm not saying it's right or wrong one way or the other. Accosting homeless, especially unprovoked is vile, but when people are glancing and observing surroundings, they may also see homeless as dangerous because of stigma, current crime and theft involving them and possible violence. It's a strange connection, because yes those stares can be dehumanizing, but I think some people aren't thinking "oh what a terrible human being to have let that happen" (because it is so so much more complicated than that.) Some people are just thinking about what theyre next move would be, is this person violent? Are they going to steal from me? I ask those questions, but I don't necessarily judge them for it, because I understand that's what life, the system, society, culture has failed them. But at the same time, I don't want to possibly get stabbed. It's similar to women walking alone at night. No not all men are predators, but I'm very weary of them while walking alone because you never know what's going to happen

3 days is not long enough time to get a real idea what its like. I did 3 years. only begged for money once. if not for the churches in my area I would have either starved or froze to death. your first stop should always be a red cross or a church for assistance. also. your restrictions are also unrealistic. a cellphone with no service would have been more realistic. also dont break the law. your better off asking for help than taking the risk of getting incarcerated. homeless commit shoplifting during the winter to get 90 days inside jail with food taken care for you. a friend and I even started a community that harbored other homeless people. I should write about it probably.

@@simeon8967 I might actually. Most times when I decide to say something online I'm met with the absolute worst of reactions. It's refreshing to get feedback that doesn't seem hateful. I was married for ten years straight out of highschool. No kids, divorce and age made me hyper aware that the associates in my life that believe me thought them friends were parasitic in nature. At the time I was a heavy marijuana user and a semi decent research chem dealer. I had been running myself ragged trying to get out from the stress and constantly at work because drug users don't have a regular sleep schedule whatsoever. So I started a business and ran it out of the garage area of my brothers house after several long weeks my wife approached me demanding money for bills and in the same breath ask why I haven't been home spending time with her..... I'm going to stop here anyone want to guess what happens next!? Imagine what kind of work day/week you would need to put into a start up handiman service and then tell me I'm the one being selfish and unreasonable... Because this was the 4th time she had made these complaints and I had finally started doing enough business where I didn't need to supplement the cash flow with illegal sales of a substitute substance. In my state that would have been ten years minimum. Well if you want more I can write the rest but I'm still 3 or four incidents before I wind up in a tent in January...

Basically you didn't have the stress over your head of actually being homeless and it not ending and essentially being in oblivion which you never know when or if it's going to actually end. Where as you did know it didn't have the full insight and thus weren't able to give an accurate perspective. Just saying ygm. As being homeless for long time I'd know so yh lol.

The video with the lice. You can do this as well: slather your hair in mayonnaise and then wrap your head in plastic wrap. This also stops them from breathing, and you can get the nits out with a spell comb. Also, to help prevent lice in the first place, don't wash your hair all the time. Lice like clean hair it makes it easier for them to cling to the hair shaft. You should only wash and condition your hair once a week at most. The natural oils in your scalp are good for your hair, plus it prevents lice from being able to cling to your hair folical.
