Never....never...never let a cruiseline choose your cabin, there is a ton of research available online to work out the best cabins. As for the slow process at Southampton this is true of all cruiselines not just P&O. Im pretty certain you would be much happier on a smaller ship.

@@malcolmstockbridge2569 Thanks for your comment. We've gotten away with it so many times before and landed a good cabin. I'll be paying the extra now for sure. MSC, Royal Caribbean and Ambassador all had much quicker embarkation than this one 🤷😊
