You can see bioluminescence in the water, just not to that extreme, with decent regularity. It does depend on where you are and it is seasonal, but you can see a much lighter version of it. I've seen it multiple times while night diving in Bonaire, and even "toned down" from those famous pictures, it's gorgeous and so ethereal, like you're in an alien landscape. It doesn't photograph, but I remember it clearly, despite being years ago. That specific beach shot is an extreme case, and right place, right time, for sure.

She didn't do ANYTHING to promote culture..had she been promoting culture she would have not published that it's ok to pay people for a better "shot". She didn't mention any local restaurants or how to support the communities she visited. She can't even pronounce Holbox correct.
@KarisaBear8 ай бұрын
@lamaestra1111 Your comment sounds like u didn't actually watch the full video. First off, this vid is about if pinterest shots are the same irl, if she were to be promoting the culture/local businesses, it'd be a completely different and longer vid. Secondly, nowhere in the vid does she actually pay someone to take "better" pics for her. It was only offered, but she never said yes to it. At the very end of the vid she sums up the actual most important parts of traveling, none of which have anything to do with getting the perfect shot, and more so about the experiences u make and the people u meet
@lamaestra11118 ай бұрын
When she couldn't even pronunciate Holbox correct I had to skip through to the end. These types of inlfuencers don't truly experience the culture, they pay for a fake reality lol. I get it *the video wasn't about culture*. Quite frankly, there is a reason she blurred than man out, what he offered is NOT permitted. When you are paying for the service of the tour guide then posting that he illegally offers that entrance is promoting such behaviors. Simply don't include that part. You folks don't understand the trickle down effect something like this causes. As more influencers and tourists come to these areas, flamingo population and nesting numbers have gone down. By posting that they were able to illeagaly cross a restricted area promotes that it's ok to come and look for that. or simply go on their own and do it. The entitlement. @@KarisaBear

I live in a place that has bioluminescent water, and it can be REALLY visible. But a few things you need to know: 1. The time of year matters. Where I live, it's best between June and September, but it can even vary depending on the day. I don't know if it's the temperature, or how sunny it was during the day... but it's sometimes way better out of the blue. 2. You likely need a camera that specializes in shooting at night. Even when the bioluminescence is super bright, cameras can't pick it up very easily. If you really want to see bioluminescence, I would recommend going a couple nights in a row to account for the varying visibility. And I wouldn't count on getting it on video or in photos most of the time, but it is absolutely worth seeing in person!

Love your comments at the ending. After living in Japan for the past 3 years, I can tell you that pinterest, instragram, etc. people are so frustrating to deal with. Just yesterday I was enjoying the Tokyo National Museum of Western Art with my daughter. Yes, we take pictures and even video to share with family, but we try to do it quickly, not impose on others, and enjoy the moment more than anything else! We were greatly enjoying the pieces by Monet, discussing his use of shadowing in his On the Boat painting to create the reflections in the water, while waiting for our turn up close...when we got stuck behind someone who wanted the perfect picture of them "contemplating" the painting. After over 10 mins of waiting for them to move on, we gave up. I could tell one of the museum personal was frustrated too...but non-confrontational culture...means they aren't likely to do anything unless they have to. Don't get me wrong, please do take photos and videos when it's allowed! It's great to have a way to look back on those memories. But also remember to live in the moment! So many people miss out on so much, because they're just chasing that one little social media shot and internet clout. And for the love of God, please just hurry the heck up and let other people enjoy the moment as well! Be a considerate clout chaser at least. 😆

You're a doll and I only say this from experience. Cenotes are sadly not the fresh water gems we thought of anymor.. towns are growing faster than they're able to handle and a lot of sewage ends up in the underwater cave systems. Tulum is a small fishing village and needs some help now to support everything. Take care and be safe all ❤❤

I absolutely LOVED THIS TOUR HOPE!!!me and my husband will never be able to do something like any of these things and I truly appreciate that you went so we can honestly see them in real life instead of just on internet!!!!you rock…me and my husband and my children are huge fans of your channel. I don’t usually comment, but I truly wanted you to know how much we all enjoyed watching this, in my home. While watching my two younger children kept pulling up the spots you were at on the family IPad and were excited for that. Thanks!!!

Well, she acts like she thinks $50 for an evening dress is a lot of money, which never seems genuine to me.

@@ryeroniI’ve been there before! Each person in my family spent about 50 dollars except someone who got a steak that was around 120. Then we got some appetizers so it was about 550/600 dollars with drinks and wine and tip. This was 2 years ago tho so prices may have changed

Totally saving this video for if I visit Mexico in the future! Thanks for giving us authentic reviews! The culture, food and people are always the best part of visiting any country! Every touristy place I've been to always has lines and waits as well.🤣It just comes with the territory. Love your travel vlogging style!

my parents are from mexico and with having the privilege to travel back in forth, if you were to want to visit special places, it is better to do it as early as possible! busy hours for any place will always be 12pm, 3pm and 6pm since they are mainly food or tourist hours ☺️!

My son, husband, and I went to the pink, salt flat in Progresso, Mexico. It was SUPER pink and one of my favorite pictures of my son and I was taken there. We also went to the bioluminescence in Titusville, Fl at night in clear kayaks. It was SOOO GORGEOUS!!!!

Gonna be a lot of hot takes in this one. I'd like to preface this by saying I like Hope and her channel, I watch everything she puts out and this is not directed at her but at an idea. All these locations are really gorgeous, wild and clearly not yet trampled by mass tourism - I never knew how diverse just that one area of Mexico is. Makes me want to go there, I've never really even considered it before, so I guess I'm glad Pinterest took you down this route lol But… the heavy emphasis on getting "the shot" for socials is such a turn off to me. I mean, obviously, commemorate your vacations as you wish, it's your money and time (and in Hope's case - business)! But hot take… going to a unique place to reproduce an exact photo or experience someone else took or had for a social media post that amounts to "I did this too" (while breakings local rules and laws to do so)? Why? So what? The internet is now full of photos of different people in those same positions at the same angles in the same places at the same times. It's like those cardboard cutouts at county fairs where you stick your head in the hole where the face goes. Why not take photos at new angles and of things around the "the shot" (the people, the culture, the animals, the mundane details)? These shots are often way more poignant and can end up carrying more emotional value because they're totally unique to you, your trip and especially your mind's eye. *Those* shots contribute to our shared understanding of each other, not the ones that parrot some influencer over and over. I say all this because I genuinely fear we’ll eventually lose our unique selves in the noise that is social media if we feel like we *must* replicate someone in order to leave a mark.
