I’m from SF - avoid public parking lots!! Park on a street with meters and plenty of other cars. Car break ins are definitely over exaggerated, but unfortunately the homeless population has ballooned since covid started - making the crime more common

With your San Francisco comments my homegirl had her car stolen someone was living in it and then met her at the police station while she was trying to retrieve it saying you cant take your car back its my home! Once she got rid of that car they broke into the new car soon after. So yeah it sounds like they break into cars alot out there.
