Just done a quick search through the genealogy databases, and I believe I have found a potential match for the owner of that ring. Martin August Hegebarth, born 6th September 1899, married to Maria Stahl 12th January 1930 in Frickhofen, Hessen-Nassau. I hope you can find his family and return that ring.

You got to think deeply about it. When they find a hat and Bullet etc it's so crazy to think a soldier 70 years back left that there dropped it and its just layed there all that time. I just wonder what the scene was when it dropped. So so interesting man. If you watch these things and don't think that way your mind ain't open enough.

When I watch these videos I am transported back in time to the moment the found items were abandoned. I see a button and wonder about the soldier that last buttoned his shirt with it and how it came to be buried in the forest. Was it the cold wet spring of '45, or the heat of a '43 summer. In any case, I am guessing that soldier would have rather been at home with his woman and a bier. F#@%ing war.

You are lucky to not have found any body parts, although they could have been eaten by animals or the body ended up not far from there and gotten disposed off.. But that was a very interesting spot and so you can see, everybody thinks that the main pathway in a Forest didn't get used to fight on because you were so much less visible behind the trees, well, clearly they also were used and so lots can be found everywhere you can think off. When I was a very little girl I found so many stuff and me and my (older) cousins always found loads of ammo which we blew up. Back then that stuff was already so unstable as could be and better left untouched so we doug it up very carefully, pulled the pin off of the many handgranates we also had and up it went. And at home off course again some drama of mothers who heard those blasts 👀😊 Understandable now I'm a little older 😁

It is sad seeing soldier's wedding ring, spoon, a few coins and buttons. All in a few square meters, probably meaning soldier died there. Imagine being in mortal danger or dying there, hope ring comforted them. Same with Russian star badge and similar, guess they were not throwing this things away since they meant something to them even if not as much as wedding ring. I like watching such videos, although seeing very personal items found in the soil still makes me sad. Hope they will be able to find who owned wedding ring, family would surely be happy and could help them with closure... This is really showing what war is. We should learn from it, especially in this times that are similar to 1930's in Germany and allied countries. Stop all wars!

Hi there, thanks for watching. We clean up most stuff (with the exception of weapons and ammunition) and put it on display, unless something can be returned to family of the soldier of course. The relics we find aren't that suitable for museums as one might think. Most museums here in Europe are already filled with rusty dug up relics.
