The palace at Dam Square was originally built as Amsterdam's new city hall around the middle of the 17th century (when the country was a republic). At the time, it was the biggest non-religeous building in Europe. It only became a royal palace around the late 1790s when Napoleon Bonaparte installed his brother Louis Bonaparte as king of the Kingdom of Holland (which only lasted for about 2 decades).

Loved this vlog! I am going over to Europe in July with three friends - would you recommend us going to Amsterdam? We are going to Europe to party and are ending our trip in Amsterdam. I’ve been to quite a few cities in Europe now and i loved amsterdam so so much! I don’t drink alcohol so the party scene isn’t something we explored so i can’t comment on that!! But museums, food, beauty is all there🥰🥰🥰🤍
