Loved the video. But i can't believe no one talked about how difficult the program actually is and the true reality of it. Im in my 2nd semester and the program is no joke. 6 exams over the span of 4 days is insanity! The workload is massive and it is extremely expensive. Please dont go into it blind or thinking that its going to be fun and easy all the time. Majority of the time you will be stressed and sleep deprived. I failed out in my early 20's, trying again now in my early 30's because it really is a rewarding profession that pays very well. I just didnt understand back then how committed you have to be make it through the program. Procrastination is NOT an option in this program. I just want people to understand what it really takes to become a dental hygienist so they dont make the mistakes that i did. Good luck to all of you applying to the program. I wish you nothing but success❤

I’m a senior in highschool and I really want to go into dental hygiene but idk if I should get a bachelors and go to AU or just go to a tech college, also when your in the dental hygiene program is it a lot of science ?

@ufw.latinas9576 I would recommend tech school over a university. Its way cheaper to go to tech school and the requirements to get in a dental hygiene program will be easier than at a university. The program is very competitive and hard to get into as it is, so the less competition you have the better. More students will be applying to a dental hygiene program at a university than tech because theres more students at university. I go to a tech school and over 150 students applied but they only accept 17 students a year into the program. They only aceept students with the best grades so you really need to make all As in your prerequisite classes to ensure you get it in on your first try. I know it took some of my classmates 3 trys to get in so thats 3 years of waiting. And there is no real difference in pay for an associates vs a bachelor's. Bachelor's will just allow you to work other jobs in dental hygiene such as sales and research but the pay is the same. And yes its mostly science classes you will be taking in the program. Tooth anatomy, head/neck anatomy, embryology, radiology, pharmocology, just to name a few. Hope that makes sense.

@@ufw.latinas9576 GET AN ASSOCIATES! The pay is the same regardless and it’s much cheaper. In my opinion

This make dental hygiene school look so much easier than it is. It also makes dental hygienist look like all they do is clean teeth. There is so much more to it that you could still have hit on in a short video.

Agreed! Unfortunately with me not being an actual dental student, there were a lot of areas I wasn’t allowed to go

I'm currently applying to a dental hygiene program, and watching this video is making me super excited. I'll get my decision in about 50 days 🙏
