you are right about the central asian influence...kashmir has cultural similarities to the xinjinag region too .Even ancient customs like dog burial has been found in kashmir( Burzahom archaelogical site) which were practiced in Central Asian cultures..It was a part of the silk road too.. kashmir is an intersection of the south asian , central asian and iranian cultures..it even has central asian genetic contributions due to it being a part of the silk road
