I drove a tow-truck for 10 years and one thing I learned if the truck is beat up it’s going to ask for a lot of maintenance. When you get a truck you have to make sure it’s in very good condition or else you’re going to spend more money than you make in repairs.

Definitely a go. Get on Triple AAA and you will get on the call roll in your area. You will make a killin!! They rotate towing services in your area. Another great income under your belt.. You have to go to the city and apply in your town. You will stay busy with tows.

My dad has cancer and he has a c4500 6.6 flatbed, ive been thinking about talking to him about driving it. He’s thinking of selling it. im 18 and i think this would be a pretty good career once you have other drivers can you explain to me more how that works? AAA is what ultimately destroyed my dad's company. You can't work for other auto clubs, gotta keep trucks available (which means potentially losing pd, and highway patrol contracts), repainting all your trucks with your own money to meet their standards, hiring more drivers, purchasing more trucks to keep up with their demand (or they take that area from you), plus they run your trucks ragged causing more maintenance costs than you could imagine. Sure you get a big pay check, but you also have to look into how much your overhead is now. You can pay your driver's less, but that's going to effect the quality of your business, give you bad ratings. Worst part is if you don't keep up with their "standards" they just give your calls to the next company. I remember a couple months they took a lot of our call volume because we didn't get to every call within 30 minutes. Our average was about 45, but our customers always gave us high scores. We were the best in our area, but AAA didn't care. We didn't get there fast enough. All that time, energy, and money goes down the drain, and you never focused on personal business growth. But AAA won't give you enough calls to get by anymore. What do you do when that day comes? I'm saving up to start my own company now, after seeing what AAA did to my dad and his friends companies, I've promised myself to never shake hands with that devil...

@@jimpeanut6697 trust me AAA is the worst thing you could do. Read my other comment. If your dad already has an established company focus on what contracts he already has. Use word of mouth and name to grow. High call volume isn't the answer, a strong loyal customer base is.

My dad recently passed without signed will and my bitchass siblings want to sell the house and split everything, could i get a tag for the truck to work it a few months before these raptures come and take everything? The title is in my dads name but thats it i was thinking of forging it honestly so i could keep my dads truck he loved that wrecker man.

Man its a gamble you should see what i started with! I thought i wasnt going to make it a week with that pos! But ended up paying 10k for it fixing it up some and working it from may to December sold it for 15k and bought a 2005 gmc c5500 rollback with a rebuilt duramax deleted tuned from a friend with receipt and paperwork for everything he put 8k in it on top of the rebuilt bought it for 19k

What up bro! A tow truck is definitely better than loading and unloading with a truck a trailer but that one there ain't it lol. Well unless it's like 5-7k. I started my company a year ago and got a used truck only to drop 15k for a new motor 6 months later. All good now but that's a big hit.
