The Bahamas reminded me island life is no picnic because everything has to be imported. Don’t be too stressed out about it; in Alaska you’ll find life is expensive, there too!

The blue seawater 💦 comes with a high price. There isn't much topsoil on a chalky island. The chalk instead of topsoil keeps the seawater clear and blue. Without topsoil, not much food can grow there so nearly everything except fish 🐟 caught in the nearby sea needs to be imported and food costs are very high. Another drawback is the potentially turbulent tropical weather with storms, often in the late afternoons, sometimes even hurricanes ! Circling in the air may be due to bad weather at the airport causing air traffic congestion delays. I still like island living, though, but only on my humongous island 🏝️ called "Turtle Island" by the Natives. 😊

Dari, I have been to the Bahamas many times. Lost count as to how many. The country I have visited the most is Mexico The bahamas is just slightly poor than the United States. So pretty wealthy. I have always stayed downtown. Your up north. The bahamas and the countries below the United States in general have more fruits in the super markets the bahamas uses less than 1 percent of it's fishing potential. Lots of fish. Pretty good fish too... I modstly walk in the bahamas... Dari your in the criminal area. The good areas do not have garbage. The bahamas used to be poor. But became a banking center. Instead of welfare they have low cost motgages. Their system of helping the poor by subsidized mortgages works much better than the american stystem. so the home you first buy is a shell, does not have running water, or a kitchen. For a kitchen in the bahamas you put a barbaque in the back yard. OK once you have your home You add water. when you first buy the home it will have a public spicket at the end of the street. You have to add a pipe going down the street to your home. The pipe going down the street is just a pipe buy is a public pipe on public property so others can add into it. when public pipes fail they are replaced with a regular main. In 30 to 40 years. So you add running water Then drywall then you might make a addition for a kitchen. The collapsed wall is hurricane damage. Dari the expensive stuff if imported from the united states. Plus your up on the north end which cost more. I think you can buy fish right off the boat and there will be street venders near the fish boats. I think I ate street food in the Bahamas.

Personnel, I dislike those who try to steer you into the wrong with their poor advice! I'm sure those that have failed and posted on YT are complaining because they assumed and they were right! Of course, when you assume, it make an Ass out of, well, you know the rest! 😂😂 Glad you did it the right way and we don't get to see the "I got kicked out of the U.S.A. Dari Video"! WOW, I knew the Bahamas was a rich play ground, but did not know it was that expensive. Hopefully you don't go broke in the Bahamas before you paperwork arrives! My wife and I visited Nausau in 1986. We were cheap, and took the bus from Cable Beach to downtown. The houses weren't even as nice as what was shown in the video, and were mostly made from corrugated steel. The bus was mostly for hotel workers to get to and from home and work. We realized that tourists were expected to support the local economy by taking taxis. Unfortunately, since the bus stopped by 6pm, we had to take a taxi, and the driver seemed to be under the influence. We made it back to the hotel without incidents, but we stayed by the hotel after that.

Hi Dari Glad you had an amazing time in the Bahamas. Regrettably, the Bahamas is afflicted by poverty and high living costs. Yet, the beaches and waters are breathtaking, a stark contrast. It's not advisable to place too much trust in what "officials" and others suggest about overstaying your visa. If the university requires your visa for any reason and discovers it's invalid, you could be barred from obtaining a new visa or re-entering the USA. I'm pleased to hear that you received assistance with your travel from the airport to your Airbnb, and your journey back from "Walmart." AND managing a place to store your phone, II find it very surprising that there were no storage lockers available outside the embassy for such situations. I'm pleased to hear that everything turned out well and that you found a tropical destination to relax in after the stressful weeks spent awaiting your visas. What a vacation indeed! Cheers 👋😄

The trash and most (though not all) of the squalor for the locals in Nassau is the lasting gift of hurricanes - a devastating one in 2019 and a less-direct hit but still a bad one in autumn 2022. In 2019, large parts of the Bahamas were destroyed, lives were lost, homes and businesses were strewn across land and sea. It is hard to describe how bad things were, and the hurricane seasons since have scarcely given the country (and region) peace since then. It may seem odd that there is still a hangover from Dorian in 2019, but the scale of the damage was terrible and there was a pandemic and more hurricanes in the intervening years. So the islands do not have their best face on for visitors, but you still found beauty and kind people. Yes, there are people who live in poverty in the Bahamas in the best times, but the remaining examples of chaos and disrepair you found is not what has been normal for the country. Add in your good fortune with the visa system - in a terrible state, even for students, since the Trump administration and his pals/toadies in Congress changed the State Department and security protocols for the worse yet again, adding chaos to the messes made to the system after 9/11/2001 - and it seems you did very well during your trip. Well, except for the all-imported groceries being shipped from the U.S. at extortionate prices. Good luck finding food. Some horrible people are making a lot of money on the backs of poor islanders. It smells to me like the work of Floridean profiteers. Someone needs to put a stop to that.

As an Australian, I was hoping to get a Russian tourist visa to visit in the summer but need a sponsor such as a tour company. Everything needs to be paid and booked before I am eligible to visit your country and is the most difficult visa I have ever applied for. I will be as thrilled as you when I get my Russian visa.

Masha can visit the bear and ask for help 😂😉 You two have a credible reason and a place to stay in the US. This means the chance for a visa extension is very high. I would also like to wait for a visa on the Bahamas for a week or even longer...😎
