I have been trying to figure out why of all the video of spa around the world why I keep longing for Japan and I think I have figured it out... Where I live in North America the massage therapists treat people more like money (Same when I got one massage on a vacation). The job is a job for anyone I have ever been too. It is often about the clock and it is on the clock to the min where each person is a dollar value very much. When I have been and my friends in this industry they never seem to care about the person. When I watch these videos of Japan the massage artists work in such a way that they care very much about the person. They all seem to truly want their customers to enjoy the treatments and you even see the care and love in their hands. Sure it is on camera so might be a factor but so many of Twix video the woman are like artists lovingly giving good energy to their clients with great care. Such positive caring treatment, I feel that energy in how twix sister takes the video too.

It's called " Customer Service". I worked in shoe departments as a shoe clerk, or as a grocery cashier all my working life. HARD WORK. But I genuinely enjoyed it. Because 90% of the people I served were a pleasure to serve. Simply delightful. However, 10 % of the people made me want to carry a taser. Ye Gods, some folks are sheer torture to deal with! But sharing your personal energy with customers can be draining. Over time I felt more and more tired. I had to turn off sometimes, just to power through to the end of my shift. No connecting , no cheerful banter or kindness. Maybe this is what's happening with the therapists that you are going to. They have learned that making a personal connection to their clients can be exhausting. So they see it as simply a financial transaction.

I think it goes further than that - Japanese people tend to really think deeply about what they do, for example the chefs making the school meals where I worked always looked at the nutritional balance of the meal. Here the massage isn’t just “yeah this will do”, there are reasons why certain techniques are used.

I watched these videos through my whole pregnancy. It was the only thing keeping me relaxed. Check your local spas tho. It’s not uncommon for spas to offer pregnancy massages. I never got around to one but it was on my never ending list.

I think there is a channel that can help. I think it's called Only In Japan. There are a number of things we don't know about that would be offensive to the Japanese. One of them has to do with certain numbers they consider unlucky. I think one of them is #4 but I could be wrong. Also, giving and recieving gifts. They put a lot of effort into presentation (the wrapping) so it would be offensive if you tore into it like a kid does on Christmas morning. There's others but I can't think of them now. Don't blow your nose in public, I think is another.
