Join me as I check off a BIG entry on my bucket list and attend the 2023 NHL Winter Classic at Fenway Park! I showed up extremely early and captured everything I could before, during, and after what turned out to be a phenomenal hockey game between the Bruins and Penguins. Attending a Winter Classic has been something that I've dreamed about since I was a kid, and boy did it live up to the hype!

I lived three blocks away when I was college. We would sneak in after the third inning when they stopped collecting tickets. This was way before 9/11 and the Red Sox didn’t sell out every game.

Haa me my friends used to buy a hundred nips and walk down from Southie to Fenway and the same thing goodtimes, but yes after 9/11 it was a whole new world, we got arrested almost immediately 😂

game was an absolute blast (thanks to the third period). my only knock on it was crowd control. there was minimal staff or signage directing people to their seats, so just before puck drop everyone just mobbed around the standing ares and created log jambs

I was sitting right where the infield meets the outfield grass. The atmosphere was incredible and the game had everyone in our section standing.

Good job, CG. Regarding the removal of the bullpens; they weren't originally there. Tom Yawkey added them in 1940 to provide a shorter porch for a 1939 rookie lefty HR hitter named Theodore Samuel...uh, I forget his last name. The BPs gave Teddy Ballgame 23 less feet to attain a homer in RF; not that he needed any help.

Great video! As much as the atmosphere had to be amazing, I truly think that some of these seats were absolute rip-offs! They (NHL) know, that almost everybody wants to go when they play at such a historic place (Fenway), but I mean come on, to charge (prob close to $100) money for those seats behind the broadcast is just brutal!

It was such an amazing experience being at the game! And your point of view was great. We were under the balcony making comments when the sun was shinning on your seats lol. But still, with the Plaza and the events happening before the game, it was one hell of a weekend!!

Frankly Im shocked that the view from Center was as good as it was, grossly underestimated thoes seats. honestly from what you recorded there isnt a bad seat beyond the first row "hey i went to that game" seats. Honestly thought the only good seats would be 1st base line and Monster seats. Solid vid man

I guess the only difference between these two clubs is that, well, the Pens are from Pittsburgh. Otherwise, youve got two teams, same colors. Technically, both clubs have Boston-based ownership. Pens are owned by the Fenway Sports Group, who I guess also owns the venue itself? Anyways, irony all over Beantown!

I attended the 2014 classic in Michigan. It was very overrated. A cool experience but you can hardly follow the game at all. To be fair, I was in the back corner, so the worst seats. Also, it was snowing right in my eyes. With how cold it was and how little I was able to see, I ended up leaving the game early. As a hard-core fan that really disappointed me but there was just no point in staying any longer.

I would much rather watch a hockey game in an arena designed for hockey or from the comfort of my own home then a baseball field such as this one. The seats are so far away from the action. It’s just a bourgeois event, that’s all. The current demographic of sports fans desires status symbols and ~special~ events as signifiers of their virtue as earners, entrepreneurs, etc. Working class fans couldn’t imagine burning that much cash to sit 45 miles from the ice while piss-drunk on $16 beers. There’s a reason they spend half the game on their phone taking terrible videos and probably remember next to nothing. It really doesn’t mean much to them after a few days as they’re already hunting down the next event or consumer product to fill the gaping hole where a soul is supposed to be.
