I didn't know that the Cut is still designed by hand. I assumed that it was all digital and the metall cutters are made by Machines. I'm always amazed how many crafts there are that I never knew existed. If someone had told me years ago that making the Metall things that cut a puzzle is made by hand and that's a job I could learn to do... My life would probably be a lot different now 😅

Hello, this is Cornelia from Germany. My son is autistic and a huge fan of your videos! When he was two years old, he was already completing puzzles with up to 300 pieces, and he always had to finish them on the same day. He would complete such a puzzle in about two to three hours, which was phenomenal for his age! 😍 Then he progressed and rarely built puzzles with fewer than 1000 pieces. Now he is 13 years old. When he saw your videos, he learned that you don't have to finish a puzzle on the same day and that it's okay to set it aside overnight. He wished for nothing more than the astrology puzzle that was such a challenge for you! Since Christmas, he has been working on it, continuing for three to four hours after his full-day school ends at 4:30 PM and on weekends. He has almost finished it, and we are incredibly proud of him. We say thank you, Karen! 🙏

i'm both surprised and delighted to hear that not only are the illustrations, obviously, done by real artists--but that the die cuts are, too! i love hearing that extremely skilled crafts/works like that are still being done by people. ALSO. that room of 17,000 pallets was mind-boggling. that truly looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. lol

The scale of production is really hard to imagine without seeing it like this. And even seeing it like this, it’s really amazing. ETA: I was surprised that the creation of the dies for cutting the puzzles is by hand and such a skilled craft. I guess I just assumed that was something they created in a computer program (like the pattern of the die) and then it was made by a machine.

start very small like 20-30 pieces do that with different motifs, make each jigsaw several times. then if you have found your stride go to 60-100 repeat🤩 before choosing larger ones. (if someone has presented large ones with the words "you´ll luv it" they were inconsiderate)

I can't believe you uploaded this video today! I had a university essay on simulating production lines and i made one for jigsaw puzzles. However, the information on Ravensburger's production was limited so i had to seek data from other companies (like Buffalo Games) but with not much success. I submitted the paper yesterday and about 10 minutes in, i saw your instagram story on uploading this video. I was shocked, the timing was perfect and terrible at the same timw 😅😂😢

Was thinking this was a four-colour offset printing process - but for vibrant colours you need a few more than that, so seeing a red print roller there made sense. So happy for you to see your own puzzle and point that out to us, which must be similar to getting one's work in a book or in a magazine, so thrilling. An impressive factory with jaw-dropping scale.

3:55- this is a lot more important than it seems. We backed a board game that had tiles made from six different layers of cardboard and blackboard, and the latest print run of the game didn't get properly acclimated and all the board layers were splitting after they arrived. They had to completely redo the entire print run.

@@KarenPuzzles I adored the addition of children competing with the same puzzles as the adults in the individual round. They had their own division for under 18, so were awarded prizes for their division, but the puzzle was the same and the time allowed was the same. In Worlds, the children are only allowed in the pairs and teams. I thought that was extra special.

I'll add myself to the group of people who were surprised that the cutting dies were made by hand. I'd love to see more information on this! I admit, I hadn't thought much about it, but, I would have thought they were created by CNC. Although, I guess, a CNC probably wouldn't get the cutting edge sharp enough. It would be awesome to see a video on the whole process of creating the cutting die. I didn't see any puzzles I've done because I don't do puzzles anymore, although I still love them. I did, however, LOVE that huge dog print that was shown a couple of times. It's awesome. (I can't do puzzles because I'm not well enough to sit up at a table, and, we have a few cats. Cats don't puzzle well... lol They sorta do their own pictures. On the floor. Sometimes chewed...

@doctorsphoenix4681 I don't know if it is "right". I was asking if she got that pronunciation from when she was there. I've always called it like the bird as well, because in English when there is a single consonant between two vowels (specially if the second vowel is an e), the first vowel is a 'long vowel sound'.

Hi Karen -that must have been amazing to see all that. Ravensburger are certainly the best puzzles and the town looks lovely too.

I was surprised at the printing and now know why Ravensburger are so nice with that quality paper they use.

I cannot imagine how amazing it would be to see your own puzzle at the factory. You are very lucky, Karen

Such an interesting video. Thank you for putting so much time and effort into sharing as many details as possible. Just learning about the printers, aluminium sheets, and paper was fascinating to me. What a trip it must be to see your own puzzle that you designed being prepared in a factory!
