I'm from Indonesia, and I really respect your videos. I accidentally opened the map application on my cellphone then I explored Japan via the map, and found the westernmost point in Japan, Then I opened it on youtube and found the right video, maybe we feel the same way we feel the joys and sorrows of an island country, that is, to foreign small islands.

Had the privilege of visiting this amazing little island back in November 2019. It was such an quaint, peaceful place. Seeing all the animals roaming free was quite the sight too. Hope to visit the island again some day! Cheers from Australia!!

I was just checking how far West Taiwan and Taiwan was from each other when I saw this Island. Zoomed in and saw there are resorts and an airport so I got interested to find out if someone was showing this on youtube. Thank you for the video!

I love how, despite all of the hills, the people chose to let the horses do their own thing and not ride them around the island. Hi from Amsterdam :)

I miss the people of Okinawa. I lived in Naha for 3 years (mid 70s) while I studied Karate under one of the most wonderful people I've ever met, Shugoro Nakazato. He died a few years back, just shy of 100 years old. What a life that man lived. He was (literally) a historical treasure by being listed as an "intangible cultural asset holder" of Japan. Pretty cool. I should have done more island hopping while I was there. The scuba diving was so nice it was almost too good to be real.

My grandma immigrated from Yonaguni island to Brazil back in the 1950s. My dream is to someday visit the island and see with my own eyes the root of my family and where my blood came from.

Thanks for taking us on this lovely excursion tour. 👍👍 It's good to see you exploring (new) places in Japan. It's quite a change from exploring The Netherlands, or other places in Europe, right? Do you occasionally think of the time you lived in Amsterdam? I hope you brought home some nice memories of my country. I look forward to watching part 2 of your Okinawa tour. Groeten (greetings) from The Netherlands. 👋👋

It is a pity that no boats we can travel on go from Taiwan. It is not too far and would be good to visit. I have been to the main island of Okinawa and the scenery reminded me of Penghu island of Taiwan (that is not a bad thing, it is also nice) but we need to fly there. It is so close that Ishigaki and Yonguni would be practical to visit from Taiwan and I think Taiwanese people like Japan more than the people from any other Asian country (except Japan of course).

I've heard this about Taiwanese people and culture before. Would YOU say that Taiwan is more like Japan than Mainland China in terms of social etiquette, behaviour, values and standards in food service and so on? I'd love to go but if it's more like Mainland China than Japan in these small, critical ways then-- no offence intended AT ALL-- it might not be for me. I love Japan and can't wait to return, now that international travel is soon to be back up and running.
@naguoning
@naguoning 2 жыл бұрын
@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 I think my perspective may have some bias. I am a Taiwan citizen but not ethnically Chinese (about 95 percent of Taiwanese citizens have ethnically Chinese origins). I would say it is a sort of triangle. In some ways Taiwan is VERY Japanese (relatively polite, many Japanese borrow words in Taiwanese Hokkien language, Japanese based legal system etc). I would say service in shops is much more like Japan than China. Driving is somewhere between. Not as bad as China but not as good as Japan and we are LHD, not RHD. Some things are just peculiarly Taiwanese style and neither like China or Japan (eg Taiwanese Aboriginal cultures), some things (eg the influence of Buddhist and Daoist religions are much more than in China although they may have been like that before communism in China) so for example vegetarian food is very common in Taiwan but not common in China or Japan. Taiwan mountains, the East coast and outlying islands are quite beautiful. The West coast cities ummm not really. More industrial. I know a lot of Japanese people love Taiwan. Taiwan is perhaps the only Asian country that looks at Japan very favourably and is very friendly to Japanese people. Taiwan perhaps also has more people who can speak Japanese as a percentage of the population than any other country other than of course Japan.

I love this insight into the locale of the historic and archeological wonder of Yonaguni. I am curious though, with the studies about masks being useless in the spread and inoculation of corona viruses, why do they make you wear it outside?
