Was at the Coliseum yesterday for the first time in 12 years and it was a fantastic experience. There were way more staff than I expected all of which were very helpful. The ramps they are walking up in this video were marked along with there being plenty of direction signage where needed. Condiments were present where the concessions were open. Yes it was a ghost town throughout most of the park but it was very safe inside and I hope to make it back before they leave at the end of the season

I went to 2 games in Oakland last year and it was a great time! I caught my first MLB ball as well. I'm a bigger fan of the Coliseum than I am newer stadiums, it has character, and the city of Oakland has a ton of character as well. MLB is the real bad guy in this situation.

I'm a die hard A's fan from Oakland. John Fisher has intentionally sabotaged the team and franchise. Yes, the City of Oakland has a lot of issues, but the A's leaving is on John Fisher. The A's constantly builds up star players, and trades them away for peanuts. There have been so many fan favorite players who turned into stars, only for them to be traded and for our hearts to be broken because John Fisher does not want to pay them. Just to give a bit of perspective, largest contract that was given in the past 20 years was to Eric Chavez 6 years $66 Million and that was before Fisher took over as owner. Meanwhile, he has raised concession prices and raised ticket prices since then. All of this combined made a lot of A's fans stop showing up to games. Why give money to Fisher when he does not want to invest into the team himself. The last straw was when the A's traded fan favorite star players Matt Chapman, Matt Olson, and Marcus Semien. After that, people became fed up and stopped showing up. SELL THE TEAM JOHN FISHER

The coliseum and surrounding parking lot are completely safe, and not at all connected to the surrounding neighborhood. You don't have to pass through the surrounding neighborhood at all, assuming you are driving or taking BART. It's about a quarter mile off the freeway. You're more likely to experience violence going to a giants game, since you will actually travel through a busy urban area.

Back in 1998 I was working in Oakland and stayed in a hotel just blocks away from the Colosseum. You could see the stadium lights from the fenced-in hotel complex. I wanted to jog, and being a fan of stadiums I asked someone at the front desk if it would be OK to jog around the Colosseum. They emphatically said, “No”. They explained how it was The Hood and that they would be reading about my dead ass in the papers the following day if I did jog there. Folks, that was just over a quarter century ago. I cannot fathom attending a game there 26 years later. It’s a sad state some of our cities are in.
