Mitchell, I believe you when you say it is not about the money, but rather about the challenge. Which is perfect because this means you can stay home and complete the challenge without lending an air of propriety to a murderous dictator by traveling to his country. If you sign a contract with a Sheik and they renege, the legal system you’d appeal to is also subject to the Sheik’s family. Thor & Eddie never received the money they were contractually obligated to from their fight, for example.

He likely has fortunes in the billions of dollars, and even being ridiculously conservative at just $1b this would be like if you had $100k in savings and made a bet for a $10. At 10x the offer, I would bet he still makes money, but making money is not as big of a concern as being able to get photo ops with the World's Strongest Man and have him suggest you are some fitness phenom and your country is a tourist paradise...

Do you have any reservations about things like this in terms of sportswashing and how a lot of these sort of events are sponsored by governments/people who come under a certain degree of scrutiny over their policies within the human rights side of things.

your not wrong, real plates at 484lbs plus have a different look to them, they settle on the shoulders differently momentum and force become very visible when moving heavish weights, mayhap the prince has his own weight set with alternative weight values..

Tom Platz record - he did while being much lighter in weight and ass to grass type of squats, at least that is what could be seen from that poor quality video. 300 x 10 - comments on depth ? Impressive lifts but i would not count it. Strongest man on earth squat - come on, that is no a lift at any other competition and you know it.

For those of us playing along from home, can we win a free LHBK T-shirt if we lift (in pounds) what you will lift in KG? I'm sure I would struggle at first to do the first two sets (30 reps, short rest, 25 reps) with an empty bar, but it would be an interesting challenge to add one set a week until I can do all 10 with an empty bar, then start adding weight.

Competition squats will always be a meme to me. You can go a tiny bit deeper for a little more hamstring glute strain but you do not have to for competition purposes. You can very easily complete this challenge because the prince does the exact same shit you do. Actual full depth not ass to grass squats, every single rep, will fry the hamstrings where doing accessory movement like legpress after would be redundant.

How much time do you have to complete a rep at a certain weight (e.g., you have ten seconds to complete a single squat, > ten seconds, you're disqualified from completing the challenge)? That might be a place to grab a little rest in addition to the allotted rest periods. As you know, details like this can be used to your advantage and it's good to know this ahead of time.
