@Bogdan Parashiv well, based on the logic you are implying here, do you subconsiously hate doom? Wolfenstein? Literally any game in the universe apart from cyberpunk? Because if not, than you are just shitting out of your mouth (well, keyboard i guess), because mayo just pointed out mistakes done by the game and said that he personally doesn't like it. Which is perfectly fine. That is what constructive critique actually means, not praising TLOU2 where it doen't make sense, or talking trash about whole game (take your pick which one, it happens quiet often) thanks to one problem. Now, bear in mind that cyberpunk was overhyped as possibly no other game before, of course it made people butthurt, you can't please everyone, doom shows this perfectly (and thats why we love it, it doesnt bend the knee as easily as others do quiet often). Also, fans did this to themselves honestly, if they didn't push CDPR with Come on, release the game already, we want to play! then they would finnish the game as they intended (on the technical side of course). Also look around, do you see how games can look now? And did you notice what hardware you need to make it look like it? Yeah, check it, your old console/PC just can't run cyberpunk on ultra with amazing graphics at 120 fps, it literally is not possible. Also, where do you want to push games? They are already looking damn realistic, in a while VR will look lke real world in my opinion, so thats that. You can't make games look better than real life, thats impossible for now. So, tell me, don't you "only act as your brain cels logic tells you its fine and to believe and like with no outside logic"? Because if im to be honest, your whole speech here doesn't make a bit of sense, and sorry if i misunderstood this, but you also just rant and attack players who enjoy this game. So yeah, wake up man! Stop wasting your time because of a fatigued brain! Edit: Did...did he really delete his comment or does it just not show for me?

I cant tell you how many times I got killed because I tried to open a door and pressing the key did nothing and then I got shot up because enemies can shoot through doors, or holding F to get out of the car had such a delayed reaction I got shot up to death. Speaking of the car I had alot of instances where the car would spawn upside down in some weird location and it wouldnt come to me when I call it. I've also been in fire fights where enemies would just spawn right next to me and k|ll me. Plus the story isnt interesting and you dont feel like your actions make a difference in the game, it's just a bunch of pointless quests. If you want a good Cyberpunk rpg experience play Deus Ex.

@Ring-a-ding-ding baby at this point, there's loads of different types of RPGs. A game can be an action game and have RPG elements. Doom has that, since if it offers character progression, to some extent. Witcher is technically an RPG, since you get to role play as geralt and make decisions based on who he is, it offers a pretty immersive world and deep character customisation too. Can't speak CP2077 since I haven't played it entirely, but Witcher definitely counts as one, but it's certainly not a classic RPG like Baldur's Gate, PoE, Divinity. That doesn't make it a non-RPG though.

Generally speaking I think RPGs is best served when it’s purely a “tactical” game. When you have too much direct control of your character you simply have expectations of what’s going to happen when you preform an action. If a game feels good is because the game surpasses the expectations. One of the reasons why Doom Eternal combat feels so good it’s because it always exaggerates the outcomes of an action. It does NOT feel good to play a game when the feedback of your direct action is affected by stats managements and RNG. It then falls into the uncanny valley between realism and contrivance. RPGs functions much better when it’s a turn based JRPG or a CRPG because you’re not directly controlling the characters, but influencing the characters with stats and dice rolls. You look at it purely analytical and fill in the actions with your imagination.

Knowing where your tastes lie and where you can say “this isn’t for me” is a great skill for journalists, reviewers, and content creators alike. Good stuff man! For me, cyberpunk is so much of what I love in a game (just so broken), so I’m holding off for a while. I have faith that in time, I’ll enjoy it, as it is a game I have literally dreamed of (no lie), but its also as janky and broken as my dreams are!

I sometimes wonder if having really high standards for things is a gift or a curse? A dumbass like me doesn't have high standards when it comes to video games or movies or even food. Hell, my music taste must be shit too, considering how I like some Nickelback songs and a lot of Coldplay. I rarely hate anything. I can enjoy RE3 Remake despite its flaws, and even had fun with RE6. I can also appreciate the depth and quality of games like Doom Eternal and Sekiro. Same goes for movies, although it's easier for me to hate movies. I can enjoy a Transformers movie every once and a while and even those Fast and Furious movies. But I can also appreciate the quality of Akira Kurasawa's Ran and Tarkovsky's Solaris. Seems to me that having low-standards just increases the amount of content that I can enjoy and makes me easier to impress. However, were it not for people with high standards who continuously demand quality, we wouldn't get that many masterpieces and the overall standards of things would go down. Everything would end up being like fast food. I guess for me, personally, it's more of a good thing. Just means I can find more options to satisfy my dumb brain's desire for entertainment. But that also means that my opinion holds much less value overall, because it doesn't take much to impress me.
@BladeofmoonlightKitto4 жыл бұрын
But is it fair to compare our subjective "standards" to that of others, after all the context of this is a matter of enjoyment. There is no standard to enjoyment, rather it is something we feel.
@purebaldness4 жыл бұрын
It's an interesting topic. I definitely think there's more power to those that can enjoy everything. As I've gotten older I have learned to appreciate a broader range of things. I think the best thing about someone with your tastes is that you can compare and contrast. Just because you can find some enjoyment in fast food, huge budget hollywood blockbusters, manufactured chart music, by the numbers AAA video games and mass produced beer, doesn't stop you from enjoying their more nuanced counter-parts. I'm talking strictly as a consumer though.
@LOKITYZ4 жыл бұрын
@@BladeofmoonlightKitto That's very true; when it comes to the feeling of "enjoyment", subjectivity does play a huge role. I guess "taste" would be a more appropriate term instead of "standard"? But could objective quality exist if everything were a matter of taste? I guess a level of objective quality does exist up to a certain degree (if the game functions or all the technical aspects of a movie work) but then one's personal taste would still determine how much or whether or not you enjoy something, which is why people can see The Room as a a terrible movie but consider it highly enjoyable. It's just interesting to me that my friends would make fun of me for liking RE6, Transformers, Fast and Furious and then tell me to watch and play better stuff. And it turns out that I really enjoy the stuff that they recommend as well. Which in the end means I can enjoy more things than they do. So is it so bad to have presumably "bad taste"?
@LOKITYZ4 жыл бұрын
@@purebaldness Yeah, that's me too. As I grow older, I've been able to simply enjoy more things. Used to be a bit more strict and picky. Like, I know Suicide Squad wasn't that long ago, but I disliked that film a lot. I used to make fun of a friend who liked that film a lot. And I was generally confused as to how they could enjoy it. I used to see them as having bad taste and "lesser film expertise" than me. But as time goes on and I find myself liking stuff that everyone hates, arguing about why I like stuff and all that, I began to question the harms of having "bad taste". Doesn't that mean more stuff to enjoy? That's why I'm generally hesitant these days to provide recommendations to other people, I always start by informing them that I like everything and have shitty taste. I don't think my opinion holds much value. That's why I love watching these deep analysis videos on games and movies; they help me understand quality in a more specific and precise manner, which is what UnderTheMayo here provides.
@purebaldness4 жыл бұрын
@@LOKITYZ ha that was an interesting read. I think passion plays a big part of it sometimes. Some peolle are able to far better articulate their thoughts more than others. 10 years ago, I felt a little insecure about how some people could write an essay about why they love a certain album, beer or something. Now I don't care. Sometimes such analysis isn't needed. Plus, most importantly, some folk put themselves into their opinions way too much. As if, what they feel about things becomes part of their identity. The more complex their opinions become, the more set in stone it is. After 7 years, I finally played through Bioshock Infinite a few days ago. To my surprise, I didn't like it, at all. I expected at worst it'd be a case of going through the motions, as is usually the case when i play through a cod campaign, but no. I actually really disliked Infinite. A strong opinion! There's a long running, long-form reviewer on YT, Noah-Caldwell Gervais. I watched his review on Infinite. He really enjoyed it. I appreciated his different perspective. As well thought out it it was, it didn't lodge mine too much. So the new Star Wars movies. I walked away from the force awakens quite happy. I didn't like how it mirrored the first film so much, but I was happy nonetheless. The last jedi: I walked away with mixed feelings. I enjoyed it, at face value, but some attempts at viewer subversion didn't sit well with me Rise of skywalker: unfortunately by this point the previous film left a sour taste in my mouth and I just smuggled in beer for this movie and got drunk (not out of protest or anything, just for fun) Anyway the point here is despite all of the strong opinions all over the media and Internet, I was a bit on the fence the whole time. I saw good and bad in these movies but overall my opinions of them changed over the years which is a good thing. Opinions for guys like us are flexible. Not to be confused with fickle. Retrospection is important I feel Edit: another thought Id like to add. The best things in life are generally an acquired taste, right? I love good beer and death metal. Neither of those things are particularly accessible to begin with. You develop a taste for them over time. An investment almost always worth making. Things like this inform our preferences. Less challenging works of art are pressumably going to be watered down, therefore not necessarily worth our time But again thats where contrast comes in. Listening to more accessible music and occasionally drinking mass produced, low flavour, commodity beer helps maintain a good perspective of things; especially compared to 'the good shit' - and where said shit sits in the bigger picture Not _everything_ we consume absolutely needs to be the best of the best

Lol. Air mobility is a huge gameplay changer that plenty of people prefer not to use. Having to stop running while reloading is a straight up handicap. Your video made me realize all the complaints I subconsciously had about it but couldn't articulate. For such a heavily story-based game, it really has a miserable setting overall. All the plotlines and characters have the same monotonous depressing vibe in one form or the other, and it astoundingly manages to make dialogues as annoying as possible despite them being the core aspect of the game. I never had a problem with the combat mechanics though, I'm fine with cover shooters and if you were to approach it entirely as a stealth game you'd certainly have a better experience. Honestly? You should review Payday 2 at some point. Lots of variety in weapons and skills, multiple ways to approach a heist, guns that make you feel like you really are ripping through waves and waves of police officers. There is a bit of the game at the beginning where you will have to be ducking behind cover a good bit, but once you learn the enemies and get to higher difficulties with better perk decks like stoic and anarchist, it becomes really damn fun. The game will often slow down when you have to wait for a hack or a drill, but there are some missions where you dont have to wait for very long. I would personally recommend the new heist Buluc's mansion, because if you go from the right spot, you should only have to sit there for a maximum of about 3-4 minutes spread across different spots, which is only about 1/5 of the level maybe even less depending on how long it takes you to finish.
