Sir Norman Agatep, one of BP's founding members, explains the chanting part of I Will Sing Forever: "1. I Will Sing Forever was among the earliest songs Fr. Manoling and Jandi wrote (circa 1982), and it was about 8 years later when we finally recorded it in the Tangying Yaman album. By mid 90s, it had gained much popularity, and so we wanted to give audiences in our shows a treat by re-arranging the song which was untouched for over a decade. Yun, so we jazzed it up a bit--not really for masses but for our concerts. 2. I have always been fascinated by African songs of praise (very uplifting kasi) and thought that a chant inspired by African tradition would be interesting for I Will Sing. So some of the mock lyrics in teh chat do resemble African words--pero hanggang katunog lang. 3. I think the "senseless" lyrics support the song's theme. Kahit anong language pa yan, kahit la-la-la-la o mamaye ang lyrics na walang ibig sabihin, I Will Sing Forever for the Lord. Hayun. A long response just to say na walang kahulugan ang chant. But more importantly, go beyond the senseless syllables and allow the melody plu the rhythm to engulf you and lead you to sing your praise to the Lord."
